Role Overview
The FBI Special Agent role is a vital position within the Federal Bureau of Investigation, responsible for investigating and enforcing federal laws while protecting the United States from criminal activity and terrorism. As a Special Agent, you will engage in complex investigations, gather intelligence, and collaborate with various agencies to uphold national security.
Responsibilities
- Conduct in-depth investigations into federal crimes, including terrorism, cybercrime, organized crime, and public corruption.
- Collect, analyze, and document intelligence while adhering to legal and ethical standards.
- Collaborate with local, state, and federal law enforcement agencies to coordinate investigative efforts.
- Prepare and execute search and arrest warrants, ensuring compliance with legal protocols.
- Participate in surveillance operations, interviews, and interrogations, employing advanced investigative techniques.
- Testify in court as a witness in criminal cases, presenting evidence and articulating findings effectively.
- Develop and maintain relationships with community members and informants to enhance investigation efforts.
Required and Preferred Qualifications
Required:
- U.S. citizenship and a valid driver’s license.
- At least 23 years of age and no older than 37 years at the time of appointment.
- A bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution or equivalent work experience.
- Ability to pass a comprehensive background investigation, including a polygraph examination.
- Demonstrated physical fitness and the ability to meet rigorous training standards.
Preferred:
- Advanced degree in criminology, criminal justice, or a related field.
- Prior law enforcement or military experience.
- Fluency in a foreign language, especially in languages relevant to national security.
- Experience in cybersecurity, intelligence analysis, or forensic investigation.
Technical Skills and Relevant Technologies
- Proficient in using investigative tools and technologies, including databases, surveillance equipment, and analysis software.
- Strong understanding of cybersecurity principles and digital evidence collection.
- Experience with data analysis and intelligence gathering methodologies.
