Role Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and knowledgeable Assistant Professor of Environmental Law to join our academic faculty. This fully remote position is designed for individuals who are passionate about educating the next generation of legal professionals and advancing the field of environmental law through innovative teaching methodologies and research.
Responsibilities
- Develop and deliver engaging course content in Environmental Law, incorporating current legal frameworks, case studies, and emerging issues
- Conduct original research in the field of environmental law, contributing to academic journals and conferences
- Advise and mentor students in their academic and professional development, fostering a deep understanding of environmental legal principles
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to enhance curriculum and promote environmental justice initiatives
- Participate in departmental meetings, faculty governance, and community outreach efforts
- Stay current with legal developments and trends in environmental law, integrating them into course material and discussions
Required and Preferred Qualifications
Required:
- Juris Doctor (JD) or equivalent degree from an accredited institution
- Demonstrated expertise in environmental law, policy, and regulation
- Ability to teach at the graduate level with a focus on critical thinking and practical application
- Strong publication record or potential for scholarly contributions in the field
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Preferred:
- Experience in legal practice related to environmental issues
- Previous teaching experience at the university level
- Familiarity with online teaching platforms and methodologies
- Active involvement in professional associations related to environmental law
Technical Skills and Relevant Technologies
- Proficiency in legal research tools (e.g., Westlaw, LexisNexis)
- Experience with online learning management systems (e.g., Canvas, Blackboard)
- Understanding of data analysis and visualization tools for environmental research
