Role Overview
We are seeking a distinguished legal scholar to serve as the Endowed Chair in Environmental Law. This role is integral to advancing our commitment to environmental justice and sustainability through innovative legal practices and interdisciplinary approaches. The successful candidate will engage in cutting-edge research, teach advanced courses in environmental law, and contribute significantly to policy discussions at local, national, and international levels.
Responsibilities
- Conduct high-impact research in environmental law, focusing on contemporary issues such as climate change, natural resource management, and biodiversity conservation.
- Teach and develop graduate-level courses in environmental law, inspiring the next generation of lawyers and policymakers.
- Engage with external stakeholders, including government agencies, NGOs, and community organizations, to promote legal frameworks that foster environmental sustainability.
- Publish scholarly articles in leading legal journals and present findings at national and international conferences.
- Mentor junior faculty and supervise student research projects, fostering a collaborative academic environment.
- Contribute to the strategic direction of the law school’s environmental law program and related initiatives.
Required and Preferred Qualifications
Required:
- Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
- A distinguished track record of research and publications in environmental law or related fields.
- Strong teaching experience at the law school level, with a commitment to academic excellence.
- Demonstrated ability to engage with diverse stakeholders and advocate for effective legal solutions to environmental challenges.
Preferred:
- Experience in policy development or practice in environmental law at a state or federal level.
- Track record of successful grant writing and securing research funding.
- Expertise in interdisciplinary approaches to environmental law, including collaboration with other fields such as science, economics, or public health.
Technical Skills and Relevant Technologies
- Proficient understanding of environmental legislation, regulatory frameworks, and policy analysis.
- Experience with legal research databases and tools relevant to environmental law.
- Familiarity with data analysis and visualization tools applicable to environmental research.
