Role Overview
We are seeking a VP of Emergency Management and Response to lead our strategic initiatives in crisis management, disaster preparedness, and recovery operations. This role is critical in shaping and executing the emergency management framework, ensuring the safety and resilience of our operations and stakeholders. You will leverage your extensive experience to develop robust response strategies and collaborate with cross-functional teams to maintain operational continuity during emergencies.
Responsibilities
- Develop and implement comprehensive emergency management strategies, policies, and procedures that align with industry best practices and regulatory requirements.
- Lead and mentor a high-performing team, fostering a culture of proactive planning, responsiveness, and continuous improvement.
- Coordinate with local, state, and federal agencies to ensure effective collaboration during emergency situations.
- Conduct regular risk assessments and drills to evaluate and enhance the organization’s emergency response capabilities.
- Oversee the development and execution of training programs for staff on emergency preparedness and response protocols.
- Manage the budget for emergency management initiatives, ensuring resource allocation aligns with strategic priorities.
Required and Preferred Qualifications
Required:
- A minimum of 10 years of experience in emergency management, crisis response, or disaster recovery, with a proven track record in senior leadership roles.
- Expertise in incident command systems, emergency operations planning, and crisis communications.
- Strong understanding of relevant laws, regulations, and standards related to emergency management.
- Exceptional leadership skills with the ability to inspire and motivate cross-functional teams.
Preferred:
- Advanced degree in emergency management, public safety, or a related field.
- Experience in managing complex emergency situations at a national or international level.
- Certifications such as Certified Emergency Manager (CEM) or similar credentials.
Technical Skills and Relevant Technologies
- Proficient in emergency management software and tools for planning, communication, and reporting.
- Experience with Geographic Information Systems (GIS) for risk analysis and resource allocation during emergencies.
- Familiarity with data analysis tools to evaluate emergency response effectiveness and inform strategic decisions.
