Role Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Crisis Counselor to join our team in providing immediate support to individuals in crisis. This role is crucial in delivering high-quality mental health services, offering empathetic guidance, and helping clients navigate their challenges effectively. You will work directly with clients, coordinating care and collaborating with other professionals to ensure each individual receives the support they need.
Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive assessments of individuals in crisis to determine their needs and develop appropriate intervention strategies.
- Provide immediate emotional support and crisis intervention services to clients in distress, utilizing evidence-based practices.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to coordinate care and facilitate access to additional mental health resources.
- Maintain accurate and confidential documentation of client interactions, assessments, and treatment plans in compliance with organizational policies.
- Develop and implement crisis intervention plans tailored to the unique needs of each client.
- Participate in ongoing training and professional development to enhance counseling skills and stay abreast of best practices in crisis management.
Required and Preferred Qualifications
Required:
- Master's degree in Psychology, Social Work, Counseling, or a related field.
- Active licensure as a professional counselor or clinical social worker.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in crisis intervention or mental health counseling.
- Strong understanding of mental health issues, crisis intervention techniques, and trauma-informed care.
Preferred:
- Experience working in a high-pressure crisis environment.
- Demonstrated ability to de-escalate crisis situations and provide effective support.
- Familiarity with community resources and support services available for individuals in crisis.
Technical Skills and Relevant Technologies
- Proficiency in electronic health record (EHR) systems for documentation and case management.
- Experience utilizing telehealth platforms for remote counseling services, as needed.
- Knowledge of assessment tools and therapeutic modalities applicable to crisis counseling.
