Role Overview
We are seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Commodities Specialist to join our team in a fully remote capacity. In this role, you will leverage your expertise in commodity markets to provide insights, analysis, and recommendations that drive strategic decision-making and optimize our procurement processes.
Responsibilities
- Conduct in-depth market analysis and research on commodity prices, trends, and forecasts to inform procurement strategies
- Develop and maintain relationships with suppliers, producers, and other stakeholders in the commodities space
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to align commodity strategies with overall business objectives
- Monitor and report on market developments, geopolitical factors, and economic indicators affecting commodity prices
- Prepare detailed reports and presentations for senior management, summarizing key findings and actionable insights
- Assist in negotiating contracts and pricing terms with suppliers to secure favorable conditions
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, Business, or a related field
- 3+ years of experience in commodities trading, procurement, or market analysis
- Strong analytical skills and proficiency in data analysis tools (e.g., Excel, SQL, or similar)
- Deep understanding of commodity markets, pricing mechanisms, and supply chain dynamics
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to convey complex information clearly
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with risk management strategies and commodity hedging techniques
- Knowledge of specific commodities (e.g., energy, metals, agricultural products) and their market drivers
- Familiarity with trading platforms and market intelligence tools
- Advanced degree or relevant certifications (e.g., CFA, CMT) is a plus
Technical Skills and Relevant Technologies
- Proficient in data analysis and visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI)
- Experience with financial modeling and forecasting techniques
- Familiarity with ERP systems and procurement software
