Role Overview
We are seeking a visionary Art Director (Comics) to join our creative team, responsible for shaping the visual storytelling and artistic direction of our comic book projects. In this fully remote position, you will collaborate with writers, illustrators, and other artists to create compelling narratives that resonate with diverse audiences while maintaining the unique aesthetic of our brand.
Responsibilities
- Lead the artistic vision for comic book projects, ensuring alignment with the overall narrative and thematic goals.
- Collaborate with writers and illustrators to conceptualize and develop character designs, environments, and layouts.
- Oversee the visual development process, providing constructive feedback and guidance to artists throughout the production pipeline.
- Establish and maintain high-quality standards for artwork, ensuring consistency and excellence across all projects.
- Stay current with industry trends, techniques, and technologies to continuously enhance the quality and appeal of our comics.
- Foster a collaborative and inclusive creative environment, encouraging innovative ideas and diverse perspectives.
Required and Preferred Qualifications
Required:
- 5+ years of experience in comic book art direction or a similar role, with a strong portfolio showcasing your artistic vision and leadership.
- Proficiency in traditional and digital illustration techniques, including experience with software such as Adobe Creative Suite and Procreate.
- Deep understanding of visual storytelling, character development, and composition.
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to articulate artistic concepts and provide constructive feedback to team members.
Preferred:
- Experience working within diverse artistic styles and genres.
- Knowledge of comic book publishing processes, including print and digital formats.
- Familiarity with project management tools and methods to streamline the creative process.
Technical Skills and Relevant Technologies
- Expertise in digital illustration tools such as Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, and Clip Studio Paint.
- Experience with 3D modeling software (e.g., Blender) is a plus.
- Understanding of color theory, typography, and layout design principles.
