Role Overview
We are seeking a results-driven and strategic VP of Collections to lead our collections department, optimizing our processes and maximizing recovery while maintaining strong customer relationships. In this pivotal role, you will implement best practices for collections strategies and drive operational excellence.
Responsibilities
- Develop and execute a comprehensive collections strategy aligned with the company's financial goals and customer-centric philosophy
- Lead, mentor, and inspire a high-performing collections team, fostering a culture of accountability and excellence
- Optimize collections processes through data-driven decision-making and the use of advanced analytics tools
- Establish key performance indicators (KPIs) and metrics to evaluate the effectiveness of collections efforts and drive continuous improvement
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including finance, customer service, and legal, to ensure cohesive and effective collections practices
- Negotiate settlements and payment plans with clients, balancing recovery goals with customer retention
- Stay abreast of industry trends, regulatory changes, and best practices to ensure compliance and adapt strategies accordingly
Required and Preferred Qualifications
Required:
- 10+ years of experience in collections, credit risk management, or financial operations, with a proven track record of leadership
- Strong understanding of collections regulations and compliance requirements
- Proficient in data analytics and financial modeling to drive decision-making
- Experience managing large teams and fostering a collaborative, high-performance culture
Preferred:
- Experience in a high-volume collections environment, particularly within a fintech or financial services context
- Advanced degree in finance, business administration, or a related field
- Familiarity with collections software and CRM systems
Technical Skills and Relevant Technologies
- Proficient in data analysis tools and techniques, including Excel, SQL, and data visualization software
- Experience with collections management software and customer relationship management (CRM) systems
