Role Overview
We are looking for a visionary Director of Neuromuscular Pathology to lead our pathology department and drive advancements in the diagnostic evaluation of neuromuscular disorders. In this role, you will leverage your extensive expertise to oversee diagnostic services, guide research initiatives, and mentor a dedicated team of pathologists focused on improving patient outcomes through innovative pathological assessment.
Responsibilities
Leadership and Strategic Oversight:
- Direct and manage the Neuromuscular Pathology division, ensuring high-quality diagnostic services and fostering a culture of excellence.
- Develop and implement strategic initiatives that advance the field of neuromuscular pathology and align with overall organizational goals.
- Collaborate with clinical teams and other departments to enhance multidisciplinary approaches to patient care and research.
Research and Innovation:
- Lead and promote research efforts in neuromuscular pathology, including the development of new diagnostic techniques and biomarkers.
- Publish findings in reputable journals and present at national and international conferences to establish thought leadership in the field.
- Identify and secure funding opportunities to support ongoing research initiatives.
Team Development and Mentoring:
- Recruit, train, and mentor pathology staff, fostering an environment of continuous learning and professional growth.
- Conduct regular performance evaluations and provide constructive feedback to enhance team performance.
- Facilitate interdisciplinary training programs to enrich the knowledge base of clinical and research staff.
Required and Preferred Qualifications
Required:
- MD or DO degree with board certification in pathology, with a subspecialty in neuromuscular pathology.
- A minimum of 8 years of experience in a leadership role within a pathology department.
- Proven track record of successful research in neuromuscular disorders, evidenced by publications and presentations.
- Strong analytical skills with a deep understanding of diagnostic methodologies and emerging technologies.
Preferred:
- Experience in a clinical laboratory setting with a focus on neuromuscular pathology.
- Familiarity with molecular pathology and genetic testing techniques relevant to neuromuscular disorders.
- Previous experience in a teaching or academic role would be advantageous.
Technical Skills and Relevant Technologies
- Expertise in diagnostic techniques such as muscle biopsy analysis, immunohistochemistry, and molecular pathology.
- Proficiency in utilizing digital pathology platforms and image analysis software.
- Familiarity with regulatory compliance and accreditation standards relevant to pathology laboratories.
