Role Overview
We are looking for enthusiastic and detail-oriented Census Takers to join our team in conducting vital data collection efforts that inform public policy and resource allocation. In this role, you will engage with community members, gather accurate demographic information, and ensure that every voice is heard to help shape our understanding of the community.
Responsibilities
- Conduct in-person and telephone interviews with respondents to collect demographic data and information accurately and efficiently.
- Utilize technology to record responses and manage data collection tools while ensuring data integrity and confidentiality.
- Engage with diverse populations, demonstrating cultural sensitivity and awareness to foster trust and cooperation.
- Assist in the training and onboarding of new Census Takers, sharing best practices and insights to enhance team performance.
- Analyze and report on data collection progress, identifying challenges and proposing solutions to meet collection goals.
- Collaborate with local supervisors and community organizations to promote awareness and encourage participation in the census process.
Required and Preferred Qualifications
Required:
- High school diploma or equivalent; some college coursework is a plus.
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to engage with a diverse audience.
- Proven ability to handle sensitive information with discretion and respect.
- Familiarity with using technology and data collection tools.
- Ability to work independently and manage time effectively in a hybrid work environment.
Preferred:
- Previous experience in data collection, surveys, or community outreach roles.
- Experience working with diverse populations and understanding of local community dynamics.
- Multilingual capabilities to better serve diverse communities.
Technical Skills and Relevant Technologies
- Proficiency in using mobile apps and online platforms for data collection.
- Basic understanding of data privacy regulations and ethical considerations in data collection.
- Experience with Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel for data management and reporting.
