Role Overview
We are seeking a Census Area Manager to oversee and ensure the successful execution of census operations within designated geographic areas. This pivotal role requires strategic leadership to manage field operations, coordinate with various stakeholders, and ensure data collection is accurate, efficient, and conducted in accordance with established guidelines.
Responsibilities
- Lead and manage census operations in assigned areas, ensuring effective staffing, training, and performance management of field teams.
- Develop and implement operational plans and strategies to achieve census objectives and timelines.
- Collaborate with local community organizations, government agencies, and stakeholders to promote participation and address any challenges that arise during data collection.
- Monitor and analyze data collection progress, providing regular reports and insights to senior management on any issues and areas for improvement.
- Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local regulations related to data collection and privacy.
- Conduct regular field visits to provide support, guidance, and oversight to field staff, fostering a culture of accountability and excellence.
Required and Preferred Qualifications
Required:
- 5+ years of experience in project management or field operations, preferably in a supervisory role.
- Strong understanding of data collection methodologies and experience managing large-scale operations.
- Excellent leadership and team management skills, with a proven track record of motivating and developing staff.
- Exceptional communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to engage effectively with diverse stakeholders.
Preferred:
- Experience working with governmental or non-profit organizations on community engagement initiatives.
- Familiarity with census operations or demographic data collection processes.
- Proficiency in data analysis and reporting tools.
Technical Skills and Relevant Technologies
- Strong knowledge of data collection software and systems.
- Experience with project management tools (e.g., Asana, Trello) to track progress and manage tasks.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel for data analysis and reporting.
