Role Overview
We are seeking a seasoned Manager of Blood Bank Laboratory to lead our state-of-the-art facility, ensuring the highest standards of blood safety and quality. In this pivotal role, you will oversee laboratory operations, manage staff, and implement advanced technologies to enhance our blood bank services. You will be a key figure in driving initiatives that align with our mission to provide lifesaving blood products to those in need.
Responsibilities
- Lead and manage the daily operations of the Blood Bank Laboratory, ensuring compliance with all regulatory standards and protocols.
- Develop and implement quality assurance programs to maintain high standards in blood collection, processing, and storage.
- Oversee the recruitment, training, and performance management of laboratory staff, fostering a culture of excellence and teamwork.
- Collaborate with clinical staff and other departments to optimize blood utilization practices and improve patient outcomes.
- Implement innovative technologies and methodologies to enhance laboratory efficiency and effectiveness.
- Ensure accurate documentation and reporting of laboratory activities, including managing budgets and resources effectively.
Required and Preferred Qualifications
Required:
- Bachelor's degree in Medical Technology, Hematology, or related field.
- 5+ years of experience in blood banking or transfusion medicine, with at least 2 years in a supervisory role.
- Strong knowledge of FDA regulations, AABB standards, and other relevant guidelines.
- Proven leadership skills and experience in staff management and development.
Preferred:
- Master's degree in a related field or MBA.
- Experience with laboratory information systems (LIS) and data analytics.
- Certification as a Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS) or equivalent.
Technical Skills and Relevant Technologies
- In-depth knowledge of blood banking processes, including apheresis, serology, and immunohematology.
- Experience with laboratory automation and the latest blood component separation technologies.
- Familiarity with data management systems and quality control software.
