Role Overview
We are seeking a Biochemistry Laboratory Manager to lead the operational and strategic initiatives within our state-of-the-art laboratory facility. In this role, you will oversee the daily laboratory functions, ensuring compliance with safety standards while driving innovation in biochemistry research and development.
Responsibilities
- Manage and mentor a team of biochemists and laboratory technicians, fostering a culture of collaboration and continuous improvement
- Oversee laboratory operations, including budget management, resource allocation, and compliance with regulatory standards
- Develop and implement standard operating procedures (SOPs) to enhance lab efficiency and productivity
- Coordinate with cross-functional teams to support research projects and ensure alignment with organizational goals
- Evaluate and introduce new technologies and methodologies to advance laboratory capabilities
- Conduct performance evaluations and provide professional development opportunities for laboratory staff
Required and Preferred Qualifications
Required:
- Ph.D. or Master's degree in Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, or a related field
- 5+ years of experience in a laboratory management role, preferably in a biochemistry setting
- Strong knowledge of laboratory safety protocols and regulatory compliance
- Demonstrated leadership capabilities with a focus on team development and mentorship
Preferred:
- Experience with grant writing and funding acquisition
- Familiarity with project management methodologies and tools
- Publications in peer-reviewed journals related to biochemistry research
Technical Skills and Relevant Technologies
- Proficient in laboratory techniques such as chromatography, spectroscopy, and electrophoresis
- Experience with laboratory information management systems (LIMS) and data analysis software
- Strong understanding of biochemical assays and analytical methods
