Role Overview
We are seeking a distinguished and innovative academic leader for the position of Endowed Chair in Ballistics. This role is key in advancing research, education, and outreach in the field of ballistics, encompassing theoretical and practical applications in defense, law enforcement, and civilian contexts. You will collaborate with a diverse team of researchers and practitioners to push the boundaries of knowledge and technology in ballistics.
Responsibilities
- Lead cutting-edge research initiatives in ballistics, contributing to scholarly publications and advancing the field through innovative methodologies
- Develop and teach advanced courses in ballistics, including both theoretical frameworks and practical applications
- Mentor graduate and undergraduate students, fostering their academic and professional development within the discipline
- Collaborate with industry partners, government agencies, and academic institutions to promote knowledge transfer and practical application of ballistics research
- Engage in community outreach and public education initiatives to raise awareness and understanding of ballistics
Required and Preferred Qualifications
Required:
- Ph.D. in Ballistics, Mechanical Engineering, Physics, or a closely related field
- A proven track record of significant research contributions and publications in peer-reviewed journals
- Experience in curriculum development and teaching at the university level
- Strong networking skills with the ability to establish partnerships across academic, industry, and governmental domains
Preferred:
- Experience in leading interdisciplinary research teams and managing research funding
- Familiarity with current trends and technologies in ballistics and related fields
- Active involvement in professional organizations related to ballistics and defense technology
Technical Skills and Relevant Technologies
