Role Overview
We are seeking a proactive and experienced Animal Control Manager to oversee and manage our animal control operations. In this role, you will be responsible for developing and implementing effective animal control policies and programs, ensuring the safety and welfare of both animals and the community. You will lead a dynamic team dedicated to animal protection, public safety, and the promotion of humane animal treatment.
Responsibilities
- Develop, implement, and manage animal control policies, procedures, and programs in compliance with local, state, and federal regulations
- Supervise and mentor animal control officers, fostering a culture of compassion and professionalism within the team
- Conduct investigations of animal cruelty, neglect, and dangerous animal complaints; collaborate with law enforcement and relevant agencies as necessary
- Ensure proper care and handling of animals in custody, promoting humane treatment and rehabilitation strategies
- Manage community outreach programs to educate the public on responsible pet ownership, animal welfare, and local ordinances
- Prepare and manage budgets related to animal control operations, ensuring efficient use of resources
- Analyze data and prepare reports on animal control activities, trends, and community needs
Required Qualifications
- 5+ years of experience in animal control, animal welfare, or a related field
- Strong knowledge of animal behavior, welfare, and local, state, and federal animal control laws
- Demonstrated experience in managing teams and leading initiatives
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage with diverse community members
- Proven problem-solving skills and the ability to navigate complex situations with compassion and decisiveness
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in a management or supervisory role within an animal control organization
- Knowledge of wildlife management and community engagement strategies
- Certifications related to animal control or animal welfare
Technical Skills and Relevant Technologies
- Proficient in using animal control management software and reporting tools
- Familiarity with data analysis techniques for assessing community needs and program effectiveness
- Ability to utilize social media and digital platforms for community outreach and education
