About the team

The Marketing Strategy team blends strategic problem-solving with analytical rigor to fuel growth across Zillow's portfolio. Operating as an internal strategy function, we partner closely with senior leaders in Marketing to deliver tangible business impact. Our work spans strategic analytics, audience intelligence, annual planning for Marketing as well as growth strategy for Zillow Elevate, our advertising and publisher business.

About the role

Zillow Group is seeking a Principal Manager, Marketing Strategy to join our Marketing Strategy team. This is a high-impact individual contributor role that sits at the intersection of strategy, analytics, and marketing.

You will serve as a strategic partner to leaders within Marketing and Zillow Elevate, moving fluently between strategic thinking and hands-on analyses to frame problems and develop recommendations. The ideal candidate brings a "strategy consulting" toolkit—structured problem solving, executive communication, and commercial acumen—combined with the willingness to roll up their sleeves and dig into the data.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead strategic projects: Lead discrete, high-impact initiatives that blend strategy and analytics across the team's portfolio. Projects may include deep-dives on Elevate yield optimization and product opportunities, as well as broader Marketing topics such as audience segmentation or data-driven decisioning.

  • Drive Elevate growth strategy: Serve as the dedicated strategic partner for Zillow Elevate, providing always-on strategic support to deliver and refine the growth strategy. Partner with Elevate business leaders to ensure effective execution against near- and long-term vision, as well as proactively identify and resolve growth risks.

  • Deliver data-driven insights: Conduct hands-on qualitative and quantitative analyses to inform and validate opportunities, including growth modeling and external research. You will be expected to use data to pressure-test hypotheses and support your recommendations.

  • Cultivate strong relationships: Build effective working relationships with key leaders in Zillow Elevate and Marketing to shape recommendations with appropriate context, drive successful adoption, and deliver impact.

  • Craft clear communication: Synthesize recommendations into clear, concise, and compelling narratives for senior leadership to drive decision-making.

About Zillow Group

View company profile

Zillow Group's story began in 2004 when co-founders Rich Barton and Lloyd Frink, former Microsoft executives, assembled a team with a revolutionary vision: to transform how people search for and shop for homes. They saw an opportunity to empower consumers with unprecedented access to housing information that had traditionally been locked away in industry silos. When Zillow.com launched in February 2006, it attracted over a million visitors in just three days - overwhelming the servers and validating the immense public hunger for real estate transparency.

The company's breakthrough innovation was the Zestimate, a proprietary home valuation algorithm that turned Zillow into a household name. This was phase one: bringing radical transparency to home values and listings. But the founders recognized that accessing information was only half the battle - the actual transaction process remained frustratingly fragmented and offline. Today, Zillow Group is in phase two of its evolution, building a seamless end-to-end transaction experience. The company has expanded through strategic acquisitions like Trulia, StreetEasy, HotPads, ShowingTime, and Follow Up Boss, creating an integrated ecosystem that serves renters, buyers, sellers, and real estate professionals across the entire housing lifecycle.
