Controller Assistant (Assistant Controller)

Job Description

We are seeking a detail-oriented Controller Assistant to support day-to-day accounting operations and financial reporting. This role works closely with the Controller and plays a key part in maintaining accurate records, supporting month-end close, and ensuring compliance with internal controls.

Key Responsibilities

Assist the Controller with daily accounting operations and month-end close

Prepare journal entries, account reconciliations, and supporting schedules

Maintain general ledger accuracy and resolve discrepancies

Assist with preparation of financial statements and management reports

Support accounts payable, accounts receivable, and payroll reviews

Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow tracking

Ensure compliance with accounting standards and company policies

Support audits, tax filings, and documentation requests

Help improve accounting processes and internal controls

Provide backup support for the Controller as needed

Required Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field

2–5 years of accounting or finance experience

Strong understanding of general ledger accounting and financial reporting

Experience with month-end and year-end close

Proficiency with accounting software and Microsoft Excel

Strong attention to detail and organizational skills

Ability to manage multiple deadlines in a fast-paced environment

Strong written and verbal communication skills

Preferred Qualifications

CPA or progress toward CPA

Experience supporting audits or tax preparation

ERP or mid-to-large accounting system experience

Experience in a growing or dynamic organization
