The Opportunity
At ZBiotics, we make genetically engineered probiotics that improve daily life. As a group of motivated, down-to-earth people, we are fueled by two things: a love for science and a commitment to being people-first. GMO products like ours, built to create benefits for people in their daily lives, are the future. As the first-to-market, we believe it's our duty to set a high bar for product quality, safety, and transparency for others to follow. In 2019, ZBiotics launched Pre-Alcohol — the world's first genetically engineered probiotic — designed to break down the alcohol byproduct that leads to rough mornings after drinking. In 2024, we launched Sugar-to-Fiber, a genetically engineered probiotic drink mix that creates fiber from the food you eat — improving gut bacteria diversity and overall gut health.
Your Impact
ZBiotics is building something rare: a loyal, curious community of people who genuinely believe in what biotechnology can do for everyday life. As Community Manager, you'll be the person who shows up every day to nurture that community — in our DMs, in the comments, across our social channels, and in person.
Reporting to the Brand Marketing Manager, you'll own ZBiotics' day-to-day social presence and be the connective tissue between our brand and the people who love it. Your responsiveness, cultural fluency, and instinct for what resonates will directly shape how customers experience ZBiotics — and how they talk about us to others.
This role will initially report to the Brand Marketing Manager and begins as a part-time, fixed-term position (20 hours per week) with the intention to convert to a regular full-time role. The initial term is 6 months, with conversion based on defined criteria as listed below.
Responsibilities
Social Media Management
- Own day-to-day publishing across ZBiotics' social channels (Instagram, TikTok, YouTube, X, LinkedIn, Reddit) — translating the brand and content strategy set by the Brand Marketing Manager into a content calendar, and executing against it with consistency and care.
- Stay culturally plugged in — tracking trends, platform shifts, and conversation moments worth tapping into on behalf of the brand.
- Generate and share monthly content reports that track progress against goals, surface actionable insights, and capture the broader conversation: what people are saying about ZBiotics, how they're talking about it, and how that compares to adjacent and aspirational brands in our space.
Community Building & Engagement
- Be ZBiotics' voice in the comments, DMs, duets, stitches, product reviews, and beyond — responding to customers quickly and thoughtfully, fostering real conversation, and building genuine brand love.
- Develop and execute a proactive engagement strategy, going beyond reactive replies to find and participate in the conversations where ZBiotics belongs.
- Practice social listening: surface consumer sentiment, trending questions, and early signals to inform brand and content decisions across the marketing team.
- Help build community both digitally and IRL, identifying opportunities to deepen loyalty and turn customers into advocates.
- Support the planning and execution of community events and activations — from digital formats like Reddit AMAs, IG livestreams, and social challenges to IRL moments like meetups and retail activations — finding creative ways to bring the ZBiotics community together on and offline.
Influencer & Partnership Coordination
- Coordinate outreach, relationship management, and performance tracking for influencer partners at the micro and mid-tier level.
- Help identify new influencer and community partnership opportunities aligned with brand goals.
- Support logistics for brand activations and events that have a community dimension.
About You
Must-haves
- 2–4 years of experience in community management or social media for a brand.
- You are a confident copywriter who can adapt voice and tone across platforms without losing what makes the brand distinctly itself — and you can do it fast.
- Genuinely culturally fluent: you understand platform-native behavior on TikTok and Instagram intuitively, and you know what will land before you post it.
- Highly responsive and organized — DMs get answered, deadlines don't slip, and nothing falls through the cracks.
- Experience with social tools (e.g. Archive, Dash Hudson, or similar) and able to pull and interpret your own performance data.
- Comfortable in front of and behind the camera — able to shoot lo-fi social content and edit or repurpose existing assets into platform-native formats.
Nice-to-haves
- Experience coordinating influencer programs or brand partnerships.
- Graphic design chops (Figma or similar).
- You create your own content personally — you know what it's like to build an audience.
- Experience marketing scientific or technical products to a consumer audience.
- You've helped plan or execute brand events or IRL community activations.
This Role Is Perfect for You If…
- You want to be the person who builds the community around a category-defining brand — not just manage a posting calendar.
- You're energized by science and want to help make genetic engineering feel approachable, exciting, and trustworthy to everyday people.
- You're excited by the idea of growing with the role — this position is structured with a path to regular employment for the right person.
- You embody the ZBiotics values of Humanity, Integrity, Citizenship, and Science.
- Humanity: We always put people first, especially our customers.
- Integrity: We communicate honestly and deliver high quality always.
- Citizenship: We are inclusive and committed to doing what's right.
- Science: We question our own assumptions and adapt to new data.
