Zayo is seeking a Packet Engineer who will be responsible forperforming network and customer circuit grooms, network turnupand decommissioning functions. Our Packet Engineer will also provide necessary project management that will ensure network plans or optimization-related grooms are executed asrequired.
**Please note: Please note that this role requires availability outside of core business hours and may regularly involve work between 12:00 AM ET and 6:00 AM ET, depending on assigned tasks.
Responsibilities:
AnalyzeIn-depthanalysisonnetworks to reduce off-net costs and develop plans foroptimaluse of network infrastructure.
Perform maintenance window grooming of customer and network circuits in support of optimization efforts.
Provisioncustomer servicesin multiple voice switching platforms and transport equipment in preparation for migration activity.
Provision,testand turn up network voice trunks with other carriers.
Configure customer services and network links in routers and other data equipment.
Configure,testand turn up new network devices and decommission legacy equipment.
Provide support to field operations,installationvendors and other internal and external groups as needed.
Research and prepare documentation supportingnew technologiesand products.
In depthunderstanding of voice features and products including SIP, PRI, CAS, GR303 and business lines.
Strong knowledge of Voice networks includingMetaswitchand Nortel DMS switches.
Audit network site database inventory toidentifyall impacted equipment and facilities for Optimization projects.
Performs other related duties orprojects asassigned.

Qualifications:
At least 5 years of experience in engineering/planning transport networks utilizing SONET, Digital Cross Connects, Wave Division Multiplexers, Ethernet, VoIP, Voice switching, power and common systems.
Excellent customer management skills (verbal and written) including prioritization, risk analysis, conflict management/resolution.
Experience with Salesforce andMetaSolvapplications.
Ability to communicate effectively with a variety of functional teams, and strong interpersonal skills for supporting and advising sales teams on proper systems andprocess.
Strong attention to detail, superb organizational skills, and ability to multi-task and prioritize.
Ability to work across functional boundaries.
Solve practical problems and deal with several variables in dynamic situations.
Interpret a variety of instructionsfurnishedin written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
Ability to be flexible in work schedule and to meet strict deadlines under minimal supervision.
Education:
Bachelor'sdegree in a related fieldrequired.
Additionalequivalent work experience may be substituted for thedegreerequirement.
Estimated Base Pay Range: $77,100 - $90,000 USD/annually
The base pay range shown is a guideline and reasonable estimate for this role. It takes into account the wide variety of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions. Actual compensation offered may vary from the posted range based upon geographic location, work experience, skill level, certifications, and other business and organizational needs. Non- sales roles may be eligible to participate in a discretionary annual incentive plan. Sales roles may be eligible to participate in a sales incentive plan.
Additionally, this position may be eligible for certain benefits, such as health insurance, life insurance, disability retirement plans, paid time off.
