About the role:
We’re looking for an experienced developer to support the migration of Azure Cosmos DB environments to new, standardized patterns. You’ll work closely with engineering teams to diagnose, consolidate, and optimize database configurations. This role sits within the Cloud & Infrastructure department and reports to a client-side engineering lead.
About you:
You’re a technically strong engineer with experience in Azure Cosmos DB and related Azure tools. You thrive in highly collaborative environments and are confident engaging with multiple teams to drive progress. You’re thoughtful, structured, and proactive in your approach to delivery.
Tasks
Your day-to-day responsibilities will look like this:
- Support the migration of Azure Cosmos DB workloads to target patterns
- Consolidate containers into fewer databases
- Convert provisioning models (e.g., Standard to Autoscaling, Provisioned Throughput to Serverless)
- Perform data migrations between Cosmos DB instances using tools like Azure Databricks, Azure Data Factory, and Cosmos DB Change Feed
- Update deployment pipelines and scripts using Octopus Deploy
- Collaborate with multiple teams to structure, plan, and deliver migration activities
Requirements
You’ll have the following skills and experience:
In-depth knowledge of Azure Cosmos DB NoSQL
Experience with RU provisioning changes and container/database consolidation
Hands-on experience migrating data between containers and databases using:
Azure Databricks
Azure Data Factory
Cosmos DB Change Feed
Strong C# and PowerShell scripting capabilities
Experience with Octopus for deployment pipeline updates
(Nice to have) Familiarity with Azure Key Vault, Microsoft Defender for Cloud, Azure VNET, and Network Security Groups
