Position overview
We’re looking for a Software Engineer to join our engineering function. At Xapo, we are building truly cross-functional teams with full ownership of design, architecture, building, testing, delivery, data, and operations. You will collaborate closely with fellow team members from the product, apps, design, and QA communities of practice. You will be part of the product team (we call them SATs, or Stream Aligned Teams, as per Team Topologies).
As a Software Engineer, you will contribute to high-impact services while learning from and being mentored by senior engineers. You will play an active role in the Development Community of practice, helping to implement the architectural patterns used to solve problems for operational teams and improve UX.

Responsibilities:
- Contribute to the design, development, and deployment of backend services focusing on high availability, fault tolerance, and security.
- Participate in the full end-to-end lifecycle of the services your team owns, supporting development, testing, and production operations under the guidance of senior peers.
- Work collaboratively in cross-functional teams where everyone is responsible for the collective outcome.
- Engage in continuous learning, utilizing code reviews and pair programming to sharpen your technical skills.

- Help develop innovative solutions with Bitcoin at its core.
Skills needed
- Strong foundational knowledge of software engineering principles and at least one general-purpose programming language (we use Python).
- Excellent teamwork and communication skills, with a willingness to learn how to prepare high-quality documentation and designs to aid understanding and knowledge sharing.
- Basic understanding of the microservices architecture, container-based 12-factor apps, and cloud-native patterns around fault tolerance.
- Familiarity with the software development lifecycle, including an interest in CI/CD patterns and automated testing (unit, service, and end-to-end).
- Exposure to or a strong desire to learn Event-Driven Architecture, Domain-Driven Design, and scalable asynchronous software.
- A growth mindset: You are proactive about seeking feedback and are excited to solve complex problems in a fast-paced environment.

Consultants joining Xapo Bank must comply with the Xapo Device Policy, which governs the use of corporate-approved laptops under Corporate-Owned, Personally Purchased Device (reimbursed up to $1,500) or Corporate-Owned, Personally Enabled Device (personal device with enforced security controls).All devices must meet security requirements, enroll in Xapo’s Mobile Device Management (MDM), and adhere to compliance rules. COPPD devices remain Xapo property with buyback options upon exit. COPED users agree to data control measures, including mandatory corporate data wipes.
Compliance with the Xapo Device Policy is mandatory for all consultants, onboarding will not proceed without adherence to the policy.
