We are Wolfram Research, a company founded by Stephen Wolfram in 1987. For over three decades, we've been a respected name in computer, web, and cloud software, and a powerhouse of scientific and technical innovation. Our journey began with a long-term vision: to develop the science, technology, and tools that make computation an increasingly powerful force in the world. This vision has driven us to build an unparalleled technology base, which now supports our diverse portfolio of innovative products. At the heart of our work is the revolutionary Wolfram Language, a unique convergence of computation and knowledge. Our flagship product, Mathematica, first released in 1988, has become a major force in technical and educational communities worldwide, with millions of dedicated users. It represents a unique blend of significant research breakthroughs, exceptional user-focused design, and world-class software engineering.

In 2009, we introduced Wolfram|Alpha, making large-scale computational knowledge a practical reality and pioneering many new technological directions. Millions of people use Wolfram|Alpha daily through the web, mobile apps, intelligent assistants, and enterprise deployments. It stands as one of the most complex and ambitious software projects ever undertaken. Our commitment extends beyond products to fostering a unique intellectual environment. We've assembled a team of remarkable breadth and depth, continually attracting outstanding talent. Though geographically distributed, our team of over seven hundred employees works in a unified way on a wide array of interdisciplinary projects, enabling us to develop major innovations and swiftly implement them. We've chosen to remain a closely held private group of companies, allowing us to focus on long-term objectives and consistently deliver the best possible products and services. Our goal is to provide the framework that allows computation to achieve its full potential, making it possible to compute whatever can be computed, whenever and wherever it's needed, and to make the full frontiers of the computational universe accessible. We are also deeply committed to education and research, supporting these areas through the Wolfram Foundation and by maintaining some of the web's most visited sites for technical information.
