Job Description: The People Operations Generalist will have the unique opportunity to take on both a strategic and hands-on role. You'll be a key contributor in shaping the employee experience from end to end. You’ll wear many hats—part recruiter, part people ops, part culture-builder—supporting our team as we scale and evolve. You’ll work cross-functionally and bring both passion and systems-thinking to everything you do. This role is critical in partnering with the business and senior leadership to understand high-level priorities and help build people strategy, while providing exceptional internal customer service and driving People Operations functional excellence and process improvement.

  • HR Operations & Compliance: ensure seamless execution of core HR processes and maintain compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws.
  • HR Systems: Manage and optimize Human Resources Information Systems (HRIS) to support accurate data management, reporting, and automation of HR workflows, while driving adoption and system improvements across the organization.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Partner with business leaders to deliver a seamless and personalized employee experience that reflects Whitestone's Ethos, ensures operational readiness, and provides white-glove support for every employee that aligns with our Gold Standards.
  • Be an active participant with the Executive Director, People Operations to create scalable people programs that support an integrated approach to Talent Management
  • Help design and administer employee engagement initiatives (recognition programs, pulse surveys, annual offsites)
  • Project manage a variety of people programs that positively impact the journey of our employees from onboarding to offboarding and everything in between
  • Ability to field basic HR inquiries - benefits, policies, compliance, etc.
  • Manage the administration of employee benefits programs, including health insurance, retirement plans, parental leaves, and other perks included in total rewards.
  • Support hiring managers in recruiting top talent (job postings, screening, coordinating interviews)
  • Manage Whitestone’s performance management process and annual cadences.
  • Partner with leaders to ensure alignment with global HR best practices, evolving legislation, and market trends to support a competitive and compliant people strategy.
  • Act as a point of contact for Tier 1 employee relations, working to resolve conflicts and promote a positive workplace culture
  • Foster relationships and be an expert with HR systems, such as PEO and LMS to align people operations processes with internal priorities.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to date employee files, records, and documentation
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelors Degree in Human Resources, Business Administration or related field required
  • 2+ years’ experience in human resources, people operations and/or related field required
  • 1+ years’ experience providing cross-functional HR support to global business functions in a startup environment preferred
  • HR systems experience such as PEO, HRIS, and/or LMS required
  • General exposure to US, Canada, and United Kingdom benefit and retirement schemes and employment law preferred
  • Ability to partner with various levels of leadership in executing people strategies
  • Comfort with ambiguity and a “build-as-you-go” startup mindset
  • Resourceful, willing to research and explore solutions
  • Ability to work in a remote environment with strong, reliable internet access

Variable Compensation:In addition to base compensation, this role is eligible to participate in the respective variable compensation plan associated with the role.
