Job Description:

DevOps Engineer (Remote)

Company Overview

Company Watch provides risk analysis and data modelling tools to organisations around the world which rely on our ability to accurately predict their exposure to financial risk. Our proprietary H-Score® has an unparalleled track record, predicting 92% of corporate insolvencies over the last four years. We’re not just another FinTech; we provide the critical intelligence that underpins the decisions of major banks, investment houses, and public sector bodies.

In 2022, we were acquired by the Volaris Group, part of the US$10.7bn+ Constellation Software family. This gives us a unique position: we operate with the autonomy and focus of an independent company, while benefiting from the resources and global network of a world-class technology giant.

Company Watch is proud to be listed in the top 100 UK companies by Best Place to Work. If you want to grow, make an impact, and enjoy the journey with a supportive team, we would love to hear from you.

What You’ll Be Doing:

  • Own the Cloud: Manage, secure, and evolve our cloud infrastructure on Google Cloud Platform (GCP) using Infrastructure-as-Code (Terraform).

  • Automate Everything: Design, build, and maintain our CI/CD pipelines to ensure secure, efficient, and reliable software delivery.

  • Secure by Design: Act as the technical security champion. You will manage and enhance our security posture by maintaining secure firewall configurations, managing vulnerability scanning and patch management processes, and implementing robust monitoring and alerting systems.

  • Maintain Uptime and Resilience: Monitor system and application health, responding to incidents and working with development teams on remediation. You'll also play a key role in supporting our Business Continuity and Disaster Recovery (BCDR) technical procedures.

  • Drive Best Practices: Implement and manage infrastructure change control, ensuring all modifications are secure, tested, and documented.

What We’re Looking For:

  • Proven Experience: You have a strong background as a DevOps, SRE, or Cloud Security Engineer, with demonstrable experience in a hands-on capacity.

  • Google Cloud Platform (GCP) Expertise: You have experience managing production workloads in GCP. A relevant certification (e.g., GCP Professional Cloud Security Engineer) is a plus but not required.

  • Infrastructure as Code (IaC): You are proficient with Terraform for provisioning and managing cloud resources.

  • Security Mindset: You have practical experience with vulnerability management, firewall configuration, security monitoring tools (e.g., SIEM, IDS/IPS), and embedding security into CI/CD pipelines.

  • Automation & Scripting Skills: You are comfortable scripting in languages like Python or Bash to automate tasks.

  • Pragmatic Problem-Solver: You are a self-starter who can work autonomously, take ownership of complex problems, and communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

  • Location: You are based in Europe and are comfortable working remotely.

  • Bonus Points: You’re familiar with using AI tooling (e.g., GitHub Copilot, generative AI for scripting) to enhance productivity and code quality.

Why Join Company Watch?:

  • Autonomy and Impact: You will have the freedom to make key technical decisions and see the direct impact of your work on our platform's security and reliability.

  • Stability and Growth: Enjoy the agility of a specialised company backed by the financial strength and career development opportunities of Volaris and Constellation Software.

  • Competitive Compensation: We offer a competitive salary, a discretionary annual bonus scheme, and a comprehensive benefits package.

  • Work-Life Balance: A fully remote position with flexible working hours.

  • Professional Development: A dedicated budget for training, certifications, and attending conferences to keep your skills at the cutting edge.

  • The Right Tools: A home office stipend to ensure you have a comfortable and productive work environment.

We offer a package that supports your life inside and outside of work:

  • Competitive salary and benefits

  • Discretionary annual bonus scheme

  • Quarterly wellness days to switch off and recharge

  • A company-wide annual sports day to connect with the team
