Senior Security Engineer (TypeScript / Cloud)

Location: Remote (with ~1 hour daily overlap for team syncs)
Engagement: Full-time preferred (min. 20 hrs/week, 6-month initial engagement)

About the Role

Gigster is seeking a Senior Security Engineer to work directly with one of our key customers on strengthening their platform security and meeting compliance requirements. This role will be pivotal in enabling enterprise and government sales by ensuring systems and processes meet the highest standards of security and compliance (SOC 2 and beyond).

You’ll contribute hands-on to a TypeScript-based codebase, drive compliance initiatives, and mentor junior engineers. The role blends technical depth with leadership and collaboration, offering the chance to make a direct business impact.

Key Responsibilities

• Build and review security features in a TypeScript codebase.
• Identify and remediate vulnerabilities in pull requests and production systems.
• Lead and maintain SOC 2 compliance and related frameworks.
• Support security audits that unlock enterprise and government contracts.
• Collaborate with AI-generated code, ensuring secure production-ready implementation.
• Contribute to cloud security best practices across AWS and/or GCP.
• Mentor and support junior engineers, including interns and re-entry talent.
• Advise on security tooling (e.g., Vanta) and help transition security compliance ownership in-house.

What We’re Looking For

• Technical Expertise: Strong background in application security and secure coding practices; deep experience with TypeScript, plus exposure to Python.
• Cloud Knowledge: Experience securing workloads on AWS or GCP.
• Compliance Experience: Hands-on experience with SOC 2 or government frameworks.
• Engineering Skills: Strong ability to write, review, and improve production code; comfort working with AI-assisted codebases.
• Mentorship & Collaboration: Track record of guiding junior engineers and fostering inclusive, supportive teams.
• Adaptability: Comfortable working in fast-moving, customer-facing environments.
