Who we are

Medicine moves too slow. At Velsera, we are changing that.

Velsera was formed in 2023 through the shared vision of Seven Bridges and Pierian, with a mission to accelerate the discovery, development, and delivery of life-changing insights. We provide software and professional services across drug discovery, diagnostics, and clinical genomics.

With our headquarters in Boston, MA, we are growing and expanding our teams located in different countries!

The role

We are looking for a hands-on HR Generalist with a strong focus on US benefits administration to support our US workforce.

The role sits within People Operations and is responsible for the day-to-day HR administration across the employee lifecycle, with ownership of US benefits programs, employee support, and HR data accuracy. While this is not an analytics role, the successful candidate will be highly comfortable working with HR data, Excel and HR systems to ensure accuracy, compliance, and smooth operations.

This is an ideal role for someone who enjoys being close to employees, understands the practical realities of US benefits, and takes pride in keeping HR processes running smoothly and reliably.

What you will do:

Benefits administration (US)

  • Own day-to-day administration of benefits programs including medical, dental, vision, life insurance, disability insurance, retirement (401k), and leave programs.
  • Manage employee benefit enrolments, eligibility updates, and terminations in the HRIS and with the vendors.
  • Ensure accurate payroll deductions, employer contributions and vendor billing reconciliation.
  • Partner closely with external benefits brokers, vendors and administrators to ensure smooth plan operations.
  • Assist with US open enrolment including employee communications and benefit materials.
  • Monitor benefits-related compliance activities by coordinating data and documentation with brokers and external providers (e.g., ACA reporting support, ERISA documentation, Form 5500 inputs).
  • Serve as a point of contact for employees regarding benefits questions and issue resolution.

HR Generalist and employee lifecycle support

  • Support core HR processes for US employees, including onboarding, offboarding, and job changes.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date employee records, documentation, and data within the HRIS.
  • Partner with Payroll and Finance to ensure consistency and accuracy across systems.
  • Support HR audits and reporting requests, internal and external.
  • Assist with drafting and maintaining HR process documentation, guides, and employee-facing materials.

HR data and systems

  • Ensure the accuracy, completeness, and integrity of HR and benefit data.
  • Use Excel and HR systems confidently to manage data, validate inputs, reconcile discrepancies and prepare routine reports.
  • Identify opportunities to improve HR processes, reduce manual work, and increase efficiency through better data practices and system usage.
  • Support basic recurring People Operations reporting needs.

Employee experience & engagement

  • Support employee experience initiatives related to benefits, onboarding, and key employee lifecycle moments.
  • Assist with internal communications related to People initiatives and benefits programs.
  • Partner with Talent Acquisition and People Operations colleagues to ensure a smooth and positive onboarding experience for employees.
  • Help evaluate engagement programs and gather employee feedback to improve participation and impact.

Requirements

What you bring:

Skills & experience

  • Experience working in an HR Generalist, HR Operations or Benefits-focused role supporting US employees
  • Solid working knowledge of US employee benefits, including healthcare and retirement plans.
  • Solid working knowledge of US employment law as it applies to HR operations, benefits administration, and employee lifecycle management.
  • Strong proficiency in Excel and comfort working with HR data (e.g. validations, reconciliations, reporting).
  • Experience working with HRIS systems and HR data. (BambooHR preferred)
  • High attention to detail with a strong sense of ownership and accountability.
  • Clear and approachable communication style, with the ability to explain benefits and HR processes.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

Education & background

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration or related field.
  • Typically 2–5 years of experience in HR operations, benefits administration or a generalist role.
  • Experience supporting US employee benefits programs preferred.
  • HR certification (SHRM, PHR etc.) is a plus.
