Software Development Engineer

We are looking for engineers who enjoy solving real problems, not just writing code. Our team builds systems that connect healthcare data, simplify workflows, and make analytics actionable for providers and payers.

You will work across multiple layers of our stack — from APIs and data pipelines to front-end and integrations. The ideal candidate is not bound to a single tech stack but curious about how systems talk to each other and how software behaves in production.

Responsibilities:

  • Design and build robust, modular software components that can scale and evolve.
  • Work on APIs, services, and UI layers — typically in Node.js, Express, React, and MongoDB — while being open to exploring other technologies as needed.
  • Implement integrations between systems using REST, HL7v2, FHIR, and proprietary protocols.
  • Develop features from specifications, not trial and error — write code that is resilient, not reactive.
  • Write clean, reusable, and cohesive code that others can easily extend.
  • Debug, analyze, and optimize system performance and data flow.
  • Collaborate with product, QA, and other developers to deliver high-quality releases.
  • Contribute ideas to improve architecture, workflow automation, and development practices.

Requirements

  • 4–6 years of professional development experience.
  • Strong in at least one modern language (JavaScript/TypeScript, Python etc.) and willing to use others.
  • Experience with REST APIs, web frameworks, and databases (MongoDB, PostgreSQL, or equivalent).
  • Working knowledge of cloud environments (AWS, GCP, Azure).
  • Strong debugging, version control (Git), and communication skills.
  • Familiarity with healthcare standards (FHIR, HL7, CCD) or data exchange protocols.
  • Experience with event-driven systems, data processing, or caching (Redis, Kafka, etc.).
  • Active GitHub or public code samples that reflect personal learning or experimentation.

Competencies:

Action Oriented

  • Taking on new opportunities and tough challenges with a sense of urgency, high energy, and enthusiasm.
  • Identifies and seizes new opportunities.

Business Insight & Organizational Savvy

  • Ensures work and tasks are aligned to meet company priorities.
  • Breaks down goals into actions with milestones.
  • Understands how to navigate the company and connect with key stakeholders and contributors.

Manages Ambiguity & Complexity

  • Works through situations where factors of direction are not certain.
  • Comfortable working through change and can act on decisions without the total picture.
  • Researches the root cause of problems and collaborates with multiple sources to solve them.

Situational Adaptability & Flexibility

  • Adapts approach in real time to respond to different situations.
  • Thinks quickly and readily adapts behavior in the moment.
  • High level of versatility.

Communicates Effectively

  • Exchanging ideas, knowledge, and data so that the message is received and understood with clarity and purpose.
  • Leverages emotional intelligence to adapt to the emotions and intentions of others.

Strategic Mindset

  • Considering future possibilities or roadblocks and creating strategies to drive results.
  • Anticipates future trends and implications of decision making.
