The Psychology Program in the Behavioral Sciences Department in the College of Arts, Sciences, and Letters (CASL), invites applicants for a three-year Lecturer III position in Psychology starting August 2023. This position will teach courses in Cognitive Psychology, Statistics, and Introduction to Psychology. The position involves teaching three courses in the fall terms at 75% effort and three courses in the winter terms at 75% effort. Additionally, the position involves a service component of 25% effort each fall and winter semesters consisting of providing quantitative assistance/education to psychology students. Specifically, the applicant will: serve as a statistics tutor for quantitative courses (e.g., statics, research methods); help set up students' questionnaires in Qualtrics; and assist students in the creation on the MTurk platform.

Preference will be given to individuals with experience teaching courses in Cognitive Psychology, Statistics and Introduction to Psychology, and to individuals familiar with Qualtrics and crowdsourcing platforms (e.g. MTurk, Prime Panels). A PhD degree or ABD and prior teaching experience is required.

Qualifications

DESIRED QUALFICATIONS

Applicants must have either a PhD or an ABD with prior teaching experience in at least two of the following areas: Cognitive Psychology, Statistics, and Introduction of Psychology. Applicants with familiarity with Qualtrics and crowdsourcing platforms (e.g. MTurk, Prime Panels) are preferred.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

ABD and teaching experience in at least two of these areas: Cognitive Psychology, Statistics and Introduction to Psychology.

SELECTION CRITERIA

We will only consider applicants with a PhD degree or ABD who also has prior teaching experience in at least two of the following areas: Cognitive Psychology, Statistics, and Introduction to Psychology.

Prior teaching experience, especially experience teaching multiple courses simultaneously, will be preferred. Preference will be given to candidates with strong letters of recommendation. Our selection committ4ee will have a Zoom interview with a short list of candidates in which we will ask questions about teaching experience, familiarity with Qualtrics and crowdsourcing platforms, and experience teaching multiple courses simultaneously.

UNION AFFILIATION

This position is covered under the collection bargaining agreement between the U-M and the Lecturers Employee Organization, AFL-CIO, which contains and settles all matters with respect to wages, benefits, hours and other terms and conditions of employment.
