What success looks like in this role:
Implementation & Administration:
oDesign and Implement Database Solutions: Develop and deploy database solutions that meet business requirements and ensure scalability.
oDatabase Installation and Configuration: Install, configure, and maintain database systems, ensuring they are optimized for performance and reliability.
oOngoing Administration: Perform regular database maintenance tasks, including backups, updates, and patches.
Performance Monitoring & Optimization:
oMonitor Database Performance: Continuously monitor database performance and identify areas for improvement.
oOptimize Queries and Indexes: Analyze and optimize SQL queries and indexes to enhance database efficiency.
oCapacity Planning: Plan and manage database capacity to ensure optimal performance and resource utilization.
Disaster Recovery:
oDevelop and Implement Backup Strategies: Create and maintain comprehensive backup strategies to ensure data protection.
oDisaster Recovery Planning: Develop and implement disaster recovery plans to ensure business continuity in case of data loss or system failure.
oRegular Testing: Conduct regular tests of backup and recovery procedures to ensure they are effective and reliable.
Security & Compliance:
oEnsure Data Security: Implement security measures to protect sensitive data from unauthorized access and breaches.
oCompliance with Policies: Ensure database systems comply with data retention, privacy, and security policies.
oManage Access Controls: Configure and manage access controls to ensure that only authorized users have access to the database.
Leadership & Collaboration:
o Serve as a subject matter expert (SME) and mentor to junior staff.
oLead Database-related projects and participate in cross-functional initiatives.
oEngage with vendors and service providers for support, upgrades, and procurement.
You will be successful in this role if you have:
oBachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Systems, or related field; equivalent experience accepted.
o12+ years of experience in Enterprise Database administration.
oExpert-level knowledge of RDBMS (SQLSERVER PostgreSQL etc)
oStrong hands-on experience in at least any of the two database platforms like Microsoft SQL
oProficiency in AWS / Azure Database Skills
oExperience with scripting (PowerShell, Python, Shell) and automation tools.
oKnowledge of data replication and high availability technologies.
oExperience with Data migration strategies and tools.
oSolid understanding of data lifecycle management, data retention, and compliance requirements.
oStrong analytical and troubleshooting skills with attention to detail.
oExcellent communication and documentation skills.
oDemonstrates an authoritative and professional manner in verbal, written and telephone communications.
oAdheres to procedures, maintains records and demonstrates commitment to solving user problems.
oDemonstrates a systematic, disciplined, and analytical approach to problem solving.
oStrong customer interface skills communication & ability to deliver presentation drive meetings.
oAbility to adapt in a rapidly changing environment, work effectively under high pressure and growth mode.
Focus is on SQL Server Administration: Deployment automation, version upgrades, cross‑environment migrations, performance tuning, backup/restore strategy, AlwaysOn/Failover Cluster management, and incident troubleshooting.
