Transcript QA Reviewer (part-time)
Location: Remote | Type: 4-8 Week Contract (20-30 hrs/week) | Compensation: $25/hr
About Unify America
Unify America’s mission is to replace political fighting with problem-solving. We design experiences that help Americans practice civic skills, learn from one another, and work together on solutions to the country’s biggest challenges.
About the Role
We’re looking for a Transcript QA Reviewer to help us understand how accurately our platform captures real-world conversations.
In our programs, students participate in structured one-on-one conversations about complex civic topics. These conversations are automatically transcribed. Your role is to carefully compare transcripts to video recordings and help us determine how reliable those transcripts actually are.
This is focused, detail-oriented work. It’s a great fit for someone who is patient, precise, and enjoys spotting patterns and inconsistencies.
What You’ll Do
Watch recorded student conversations and compare them to their corresponding transcripts
Identify and document transcription errors, including:
missing or dropped words
incorrect phrasing
speaker misattribution
moments where meaning is unclear or distorted
Tag and categorize types of errors to help us understand patterns
Help define what “good enough” transcript quality looks like for our use case
Qualities and Experience You Have, Ideally
Experience with transcription, captioning, or QA work
Extremely detail-oriented and methodical
Strong listening comprehension and ability to track conversational nuance
Comfortable working independently on repetitive but important tasks
Clear communicator—able to document findings in a structured way
What Success Looks Like
We have a clear understanding of transcript accuracy and failure patterns
Error types are well-documented and easy for the team to interpret
We can confidently answer: “Is this good enough for our purposes?”
Role Details
Hours: 10–20 hours per week for ~4–8 weeks
Fully remote
Flexible schedule, but consistent progress expected
