The Role:

We’re looking for the right person to join the entrepreneurial teams which comprise Twinkl’s core customer segments. You will be responsible for managing the development and growth of our Northern Ireland Secondary Teachers community.

You will be familiar with the KS3 curriculum & educational policies in Northern Ireland and the varied market opportunities.

As KS3 Segment Manager, you will be responsible for the marketing of a new NI secondary product, communicating with customers via a variety of different communication channels to highlight and demonstrate the benefits of Twinkl's Northern Irish Secondary Teaching resources. You’ll need to take a rapid iterative approach, employing different marketing and business development techniques to get the message out to customers. You will be supported in this role by a Marketing Assistant who you will help manage.

As KS3 Segment Manager, you will also be responsible for overseeing the production of secondary teaching resources, as well as being an integral part of these writing and editing processes. You will work with the production team to devise long and short term production development goals, as well as work closely with Twinkl Cares, our customer care service, to respond to customer feedback and requests. You'll be the person responsible for defining, building and managing the content production team to support user growth within the Northern Ireland Secondary Teachers customer segment.

You will also be responsible for the development and maintenance of the secondary component of the Twinkl website and will be supported in this role by a Digital Copywriter with whom you will work closely to enhance the overall Twinkl user experience and increase the website’s visibility online.

You will be passionate about helping educators and you will be commercially minded and comfortable in making difficult decisions on where to pursue opportunities in the KS3 market. You will be responsible for daily data analysis and reporting, as well as monthly and quarterly reporting in line with business expectations.

This is a very varied role that involves both proactive strategic planning and reactive work as you pivot and respond to the demands of your growing market.

Ongoing projects/how you’ll spend your day:

  • Showing tenacity and drive, and going above and beyond to reach new customers and build your segment.
  • Sales and digital marketing – spreading the word to new customers, whom we can help and support by managing our Secondary Teachers' social media activity and making sure the right messages reach our customers at the right time.
  • Digital optimisation – looking at the overall user experience of the Northern Ireland Secondary Teachers area of the Twinkl site and working with our web and design teams to continuously improve this
  • Business management and strategy – putting plans in place to help achieve our ambitious growth targets. Working with other Segment and Country Managers to understand what’s working and how we can improve.
  • Resource production - from writing teacher content, to editing, to overseeing illustration and design, and uploading resources to the website.

You’ll work with:

  • Susan Ferguson - Northern Ireland’s Country Manager who will be your line manager and mentor
  • Our Northern Ireland EYFS Segment Manager - Amy McClements who will support you in your new role
  • Marketing Assistant for Northern Ireland - Devan Davis.
  • Our Northern Irish Team of writers, editors and designers.

Requirements

To succeed in this role, you will:

  • Have a strong entrepreneurial mindset and a propensity for action.
  • Have a thorough knowledge of the Northern Ireland Secondary Teaching market, and of our customers.
  • Have sound decision-making skills and be diligent in seizing new opportunities.
  • Be commercially astute and a strategic thinker who is comfortable taking calculated risks and being accountable for successes and failures.
  • Have the ability to communicate a shared vision and motivate individuals and a team.
  • Be methodical, highly organised, accurate and execution focused

We're interested in anyone who meets one, or a combination of the following:

  • Is a qualified Secondary School Teacher, ideally with experience teaching English or one of the Core Curriculum Areas but not essential.
  • Cares passionately about the Northern Ireland Secondary Teachers community, or has strong links/ties or experience with it.
  • Can achieve goals in a very short space of time.
  • Understands what good prioritisation is, and values output and results.
  • Is super-positive, optimistic and works well within a team.
  • Has experience marketing a product within the education sector.
