Financial Controller

who we're looking for

The Financial Controller is responsible for overseeing the transactional finance function alongside ownership of the month-end close, management accounts production and working capital performance. The role ensures accurate financial reporting, strong financial controls and effective cash management, while driving finance process improvements and automation to support the business’s strategic objectives. The position combines operational finance leadership with hands-on responsibility for reporting quality, balance sheet integrity and continuous finance transformation.

what you'll be delivering

• Leading an accurate, well‑controlled month‑end close and producing clear, insightful management reporting.
• Strengthening financial controls, balance sheet governance and reporting quality across the finance function.
• Owning cashflow management — ensuring real‑time visibility, robust forecasting models and proactive liquidity planning.
• Driving high‑quality budgeting and forecasting cycles that inform decision‑making.
• Managing AP, AR, billing and credit control teams to deliver a smooth, efficient end‑to‑end working capital cycle.
• Optimising working capital performance, improving billing accuracy and reducing risk across customer credit.
• Enhancing finance processes and systems to increase automation, efficiency and data integrity.

we think you'll be successful in this role if you have some of the following

• A recognised accounting qualification (ACA, ACCA, CIMA) or equivalent experience.
• Experience as a Financial Controller or senior finance leader managing reporting and month‑end close.
• A strong track record improving cashflow, working capital and financial control environments.
• Leadership experience across transactional finance teams (AP, AR, billing, credit control).
• Hands‑on experience driving automation, process improvements or finance transformation.
• Deep understanding of financial controls, balance sheet integrity and reporting accuracy.
• Confidence partnering with senior stakeholders, banks or investors, with strong communication skills.
