We’re a fast-moving, collaborative team that values high-quality work, curiosity, and initiative. We care deeply about what we do, and we’re driven by the impact our work has on real people’s financial futures.

What does this team do?

Our product tech team is a high-performing, cross-functional group delivering web and mobile applications to millions of users in the fintech and media space. We value innovation, collaboration, and technical excellence. We’re a fully remote-first team, using Slack, Zoom, Jira, and agile best practices to build great things together.

What would you do in this role?

We're hiring a full-time Senior Mobile App Developer to lead the next evolution of our mobile experience. You’ll work closely with product managers, designers, and other engineers to build, scale, and polish The Motley Fool’s flagship mobile application using React Native and Expo.

This is your opportunity to build something meaningful that helps people take control of their financial futures, all while writing beautiful, performant code and contributing to a world-class engineering culture.

  • Lead the design, development, and deployment of the next iteration of our mobile application using React Native and Expo.
  • Collaborate closely with design (Figma), product, and back-end teams to ship features that delight users.
  • Build reusable components and front-end libraries, driving a modular, scalable codebase.
  • Optimize apps for performance, accessibility, and cross-platform functionality (iOS + Android).
  • Proactively identify and resolve UX pain points to streamline user flows and improve usability.
  • Implement automated testing and CI/CD workflows to ensure stability and speed of delivery.
  • Conduct and participate in code reviews, provide mentorship to other developers, and promote engineering best practices.
  • Contribute to planning and estimation in agile sprints and help shape the mobile roadmap.
  • Stay current with evolving technologies and industry trends — and bring fresh ideas to the table.

What do you need to apply?

  • 5+ years of professional experience in mobile app development, with strong React Native expertise.
  • Proven experience building and deploying production-grade apps for both iOS and Android using React Native and Expo.
  • Proficiency in JavaScript/TypeScript, with solid knowledge of mobile architecture and performance optimization.
  • Experience integrating RESTful APIs and managing application state using tools like Redux or MobX.
  • Strong skills in translating Figma or Sketch designs into high-quality, pixel-perfect mobile interfaces.
  • Knowledge of component libraries and a passion for building scalable, reusable components.
  • Familiarity with mobile app testing frameworks and CI tools.
  • Excellent communication skills, a collaborative mindset, and the ability to work autonomously.
  • A proactive approach to problem-solving and a desire to continuously improve both product and process.
  • Experience with and/or a passion for investing.

Bonus Points For:

  • Prior work building and/or working on an investing-focused mobile application.
  • Experience leading mobile development efforts or mentoring junior engineers.
  • Prior work in fintech, media, or mission-driven companies.
  • Familiarity with performance monitoring, error tracking, and analytics for mobile apps.

Why you'll love it here:

  • You’ll build something that genuinely helps people live better financial lives.
  • We offer a flexible, remote-friendly work culture where outcomes matter more than hours.
  • Our culture prizes intellectual curiosity, playfulness, and trust — it’s Foolishness with a purpose.
  • We care about people, and that shows in how we treat our employees, our users, and our community.
