Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Remote Shop Drawing Drafting Lead – Architectural CAD (2D/3D) is responsible for overseeing the full shop drawing lifecycle, from initial CAD intake through final submission and approval. This role leads the creation, review, and coordination of high-quality 2D and 3D architectural drawings, ensuring full alignment with architectural plans, window schedules, supplier specifications, codes, and project standards. The position serves as a key technical and coordination role, performing thorough QA/QC checks to ensure accuracy in dimensions, quantities, and documentation prior to production. The Shop Drawing Drafting Lead manages revisions, workflows, timelines, and version control while coordinating closely with architects, engineers, project managers, vendors, and internal stakeholders. In addition to managing deliverables, this role leads and supports a remote drafting team in the Philippines, providing technical guidance and oversight. Acting as the primary point of contact between clients, architects, vendors, the New York office, and drafters, the role requires strong communication skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously while meeting deadlines and maintaining design integrity.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage the shop drawing process from CAD intake through final submission and approval.
  • Lead the creation, review, and coordination of accurate 2D drawings and 3D models.
  • Review, verify, and cross-check drawings against architectural plans, window schedules, supplier specs, codes, and project standards.
  • Perform QA/QC (Quality Assurance/Quality Control) checks to ensure accuracy in dimensions, quantities, specifications, and documentation before production.
  • Interpret architect and stakeholder feedback and manage revisions efficiently.
  • Control workflow, timelines, priorities, submissions, and version control using Excel or similar tools.
  • Request, organize, and optimize architectural CAD files and related documentation for fabrication and construction.
  • Coordinate with architects, engineers, project managers, vendors, and internal teams to ensure design feasibility and accuracy.
  • Lead and manage the drafting team in the Philippines, providing technical guidance and oversight.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact between clients, architects, vendors, the NY office, and drafters.
  • Communicate professionally to build client trust and provide progress updates to upper management.
  • Perform other ongoing administrative tasks as needed to support operations.

Qualifications & Requirements:

  • Strong English communication skills (written and spoken).
  • Strong communication and coordination abilities to manage interactions between clients, architects, vendors, and internal teams.
  • Proven experience in architecture, construction, manufacturing, or engineering environments.
  • Strong proficiency in AutoCAD (2D and 3D) with a solid understanding of architectural and construction drawings.
  • Experience with CAD software such as Revit, SolidWorks, or SketchUp is a plus.
  • Advanced knowledge of drafting standards, detailing, and documentation processes.
  • Excellent ability to interpret, review, and coordinate complex technical drawings and blueprints.
  • Experience reviewing window types, sizes, rough openings, and installation details.
  • Strong QA/QC (Quality Assurance/Quality Control) mindset.
  • High attention to detail, accuracy, and design integrity across all project deliverables.
  • Proactive, confident, and capable of identifying and addressing architectural or technical inconsistencies.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills with the ability to guide teams, resolve issues, and ensure project accuracy.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines.
  • Ability to work independently, prioritize effectively, and meet project deadlines.
  • Availability to work on EST (New York time).
  • Sound judgment and the capacity to comprehend and execute instructions promptly with minimal supervision.
  • Reliable computer (Windows 10 or newer), two monitors, and stable high-speed internet.
