Purpose of the Role

This exciting role, remote based IT Infrastructure Project Manager, is responsible for the initiation, definition, documentation, risk management and successful completion of Technical/IT projects, ensuring that effective project control, change control, risk management, testing and acceptance into service processes are maintained, whilst minimising impact to the business and our colleagues.

Experience delivering applications and products in Cloud environments with a good understanding of modern technologies (e.g saas, iaas, telephony) and ways of working (modern development approaches, agile and waterfall) is key to the role as well as a flexible approach and great stakeholder management.

The successful candidate will be expected to be able to support all technology delivery projects, whether that come from an Infrastructure, Application or Business led initiative. Fully understanding the governing controls required to delivery safe, secure, repeatable processes to ensure a rapid pace of change to our ever-changing business.

What you will do

This is an overview and not an exhaustive list of responsibilities. Collaborating with your Line Manager, you will develop your own objectives but focus on all of the following and more:

  • Assume overall ownership of the project plan, budget, and scope, taking accountability for delivery of the required business outcomes and benefits to time, cost and quality requirements.
  • End to end IT delivery from acceptance of the request through to delivery in to live, ensuring all exit criteria is met before closing the project down.
  • Ensure the project supports key business objectives and is aligned to the overall business strategy.
  • Control the scope of the project, ensuring all risks and changes are managed.
  • Establish and run effective project governance to drive decision making, identifying, and removing obstacles to progress, resolving any conflicting stakeholder issues, supported by comprehensive reporting.
  • Manage the project risks, issues, and dependencies across the workstreams within the project, devising mitigating actions where required.
  • Direct senior stakeholder communications and change management activity to ensure changes embed within the business organisation to drive benefit realisation in line with the business case.
  • Manage the delivery and relationships with internal functions and the contractual relationship with third party suppliers, in conjunction with the 3rd party management team.
  • Lead, coach and motivate the project team, across business functions to deliver successful project outcomes.
  • Adopt an agile mindset to ensure continued delivery.
  • Undertake structured quality assurance and health check reviews of projects as required.

Who we are looking for

This is an opportunity for an experienced, successful Infrastructure Project Manager who has:

  • Experience managing and delivering IT project integration using both waterfall and agile methodologies.
  • Proven experience in governance, prioritisation, project management, and assurance.
  • Experience working within IT control frameworks e.g. COBIT, ITIL, and methodologies / standards CMMI, PRINCE program and project management etc.
  • Clear understanding of technologies to be able to challenge technical teams and vendors.
  • Strong background in working with 3rd party on-shore and off-shore service providers.
  • Understanding of IT Infrastructure and Operating Systems.

You will be a motivational leader, solution orientated, encouraging innovation, strong analytical and reporting skills who can work flexibly to meet business needs and excel under pressure to meet changing priorities.
