GC&E Federal is seeking a highly skilled Senior UX Developer to support CDC’s cancer registry modernization initiatives by leading user experience design and front end development for a cloud hosted enterprise application. This role blends UX strategy, interaction design, accessibility leadership, and enterprise grade front end engineering to deliver intuitive, compliant, and scalable user interfaces for public health professionals nationwide. The ideal candidate brings deep experience designing and building complex, data driven web applications, with a strong command of modern UX practices, accessibility standards, and component based front end development within Azure hosted environments.
Key Experience and Skills:
User Experience Leadership
- Lead UX discovery activities including user research, workflow analysis, usability testing, and stakeholder interviews to understand registry user needs and pain points.
- Translate research findings into wireframes, prototypes, user flows, and interaction patterns that support efficient case management, data entry, and reporting workflows.
- Establish and maintain UX standards, design systems, and reusable UI patterns aligned with CDC accessibility and branding requirements.
Front End Development
- Develop responsive, accessible, and performant user interfaces using modern front end frameworks and component libraries (e.g., React, Telerik/Kendo UI, Bootstrap).
- Implement UI components that integrate seamlessly with .NET based service layers, APIs, and Azure hosted microservices.
- Ensure all UI deliverables meet Section 508 / WCAG 2.1 AA accessibility standards.
Collaboration & Integration
- Work closely with product owners, business analysts, architects, and back end developers to translate functional requirements into user centered interface solutions.
- Participate in design reviews, code reviews, and iterative development cycles within an Agile environment.
- Support integration and validation of HL7 v2, FHIR, and CDA workflows by designing UI components that simplify complex data interactions for registry users.
Modernization & Continuous Improvement
- Contribute to the modernization of legacy cancer registry applications by re imagining workflows and interfaces for cloud native platforms.
- Advocate for UX best practices, accessibility compliance, and user centered decision making across the development lifecycle.
- Produce clear, comprehensive UX documentation including design specifications, interaction guidelines, and component usage standards.
Required Qualifications:
- 10+ years of experience in UX design and front end development for enterprise or government systems.
• Demonstrated expertise in:

- HTML5, CSS3/SASS, JavaScript, and modern UI frameworks (React, Telerik/Kendo UI, Bootstrap)
- Ability to communicate design rationale clearly to technical and non technical stakeholders, translating UX research and UI component behavior (Angular/Telerik) into actionable guidance for architects, developers, and public health partners.
- Experience integrating front end components with .NET based back end services and RESTful APIs, including building Angular and Telerik/Kendo UI interfaces that consume secure, cloud hosted service endpoints.
- Strong understanding of information architecture, interaction design, and component based UI development using modern frameworks such as Angular and Telerik UI libraries to deliver scalable, consistent, and accessible user experiences.
- Experience working in Azure DevOps or similar platforms for source control, work tracking, and CI/CD collaboration, including managing Angular/Telerik front end pipelines alongside .NET service deployments.
Preferred Skills and Experience:
- Familiarity with HL7 v2.x, FHIR, CDA, and healthcare interoperability workflows.
- Experience designing interfaces for data intensive or form heavy applications.
- Knowledge of microservices, containerized environments, and cloud native application patterns.
