Teach Plus

Teach Plus was founded in 2007 to address the growing need for authentic teacher leadership to transform the nation's schools and education system. The organization grew from a simple but powerful insight: experienced teachers have invaluable classroom expertise that should inform the policies affecting their students, yet they are often excluded from decision-making at the district, state, and national levels. By investing in talented educators and developing them into well-informed, persuasive leaders, Teach Plus creates a pathway for teachers to move beyond the classroom and shape the educational policies that determine student success.

Today, Teach Plus operates across 12 states, empowering excellent, experienced, and diverse teachers to take leadership over key policy and practice issues that advance equity, opportunity, and student success. Through programs including policy fellowships, instructional leadership initiatives, and the National Teacher Policy Cabinet, teacher leaders develop the skills and knowledge to advocate effectively for their students and profession. Their work spans literacy reform, equitable funding, educator workforce development, and college and career readiness. Teach Plus believes that when teachers lead, students thrive, and their teacher leaders have published hundreds of op-eds, testified before legislators, and influenced meaningful change from individual classrooms to statehouses across the country.
