About the SRM, Freight Operations Position:

The Senior Manager of Freight Operations reports to the Director of Transportation and oversees and manages the brokerage operations within the Stord Transportation organization. This individual will be responsible for upholding service and assist in growing our customer base through data analytics, cross department collaboration, and having a sales mindset. This role will need to lead with Customer Obsession, driving key productivity metrics on the team that ultimately underscore Stord’s differentiated, service-oriented transportation product

What you’ll do:

  • Strategic Planning: Develop and implement strategic plans to optimize transportation operations, improve efficiency, and meet organizational goals
  • Team management: Lead and manage a team of transportation professionals, including OTR Operations managers, Offshore operational/track and trace coordinators, & LTL operational wing
  • Customer Service: Collaborate with Sales, Account Managers, and Carrier Sales Management to uphold service standards of our customers. Hold weekly/monthly reviews with customers & carriers highlights progress, problems, and solutions.
  • Continuous Improvement: Drive continuous improvement initiatives to streamline processes, enhance operational efficiencies, develop and implement Standard Operating Procedures.
  • Cross department collaboration: Partner on cross-functional projects with members of the Transportation, Fulfillment, & Stord Partner Network sales teams
  • Technology and Innovation: Implement and lead programs and technical solutions including software applications for Transportation operations, new business verticals in LTL, Dray, and Ocean
  • Sales mindset: Identify potential growth opportunities with incumbent and new customers and drive towards our organizational Revenue and Margin goals
  • Market Analysis: Stay informed about market trends, industry developments, and competitive dynamics to make informed decisions and capitalize on opportunities in the freight market.

What you’ll bring:

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Logistics, Supply Chain Management, or a related field
  • Minimum of 5-7 years experience in transportation operation management
  • Proven track record of leadership and team management, with the ability to motivate and develop a high performing team.
  • Knowledge of all Transportation modes (LTL, Van, Refrigerated, IMDL, Drayage, Final Mile, etc.) and how to strategically operate each)
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills, with the ability to analyze complex data, identify trends, and make data-driven decisions.
  • Proficiency in Transportation management systems (TMS) and other relevant software applications
  • Knowledge of transportation regulations and compliance requirements, including DOT regulations and safety standards
  • Ability to articulate weekly progress of Operational pillar to management/C-suite
  • Eager to learn, naturally curious, extremely responsive, organized, and have the ability to deliver news directly and effectively.
  • Great time management and organizational skills
  • Proven ability to multi-task and be a collaborative team player
  • Strong work ethic and a high level of integrity, not afraid to get your hands dirty
  • Strong computer skills in Google Suite and the ability to utilize internal systems
