What You Will be Doing:

The Equity and Inclusion Coordinator is part of a centralized equity team that develops and leads programs designed to fulfill the agency’s vision of an Oregon where meaningful work enables the state’s diverse people and businesses to realize their full potential, creating prosperity in every community. This position assists in implementing and adapting the agency's long- range equity and inclusion plans, goals, objectives, and milestones across multiple divisions and evaluating program effectiveness.

In this role you will:

  • Manage multiple projects to implement OED’s Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Plan and Affirmative Action Plan.
  • Engage teams in dialogue by answering questions, offering guidance, and serving as an advisor on equity and inclusion.
  • Create lesson plans and facilitate training programs to promote understanding, respect, and inclusion in the workplace on topics such as accessibility, disability, and racial justice.
  • Assist multiple divisions in interpreting and adapting agency equity frameworks to ensure that all Oregonians can successfully access the agency's services and employment opportunities regardless of their identity.
  • Complete equity reviews and consultations for internal and external agency communications.
  • Staff and contribute to internal and external task forces and work groups, including the Employment Department’s Equity and Inclusion Council.
  • Create and present reports on the agency’s progress related to equity, inclusion, and retention of a diverse workforce.

  • Commitment to valuing diversity and promoting inclusion.
  • Successful experience in facilitating difficult conversations or trainings with individuals and groups on equity topics such as racial justice, bystander intervention, accountability, restorative practices, civil rights, disability inclusion, LGBTQIA2S+ inclusion, equity frameworks, and/or gender equity.
  • Successful experience communicating respectfully and thoughtfully, adjusting communication style for a wide variety of audiences and situations.
  • Successful experience identifying systemic or structural barriers to equity and inclusion, researching and recommending policy or other solutions, and managing projects to promote equity and inclusion.
  • Successful experience developing and/or applying accessibility and disability inclusion policies, strategies, and/or guidance.
  • Successful experience maintaining a high degree of confidentiality with employee and customer information.

Required Minimum Qualifications:

  • A Bachelor's Degree in Business or Public Administration, Behavioral or Social Sciences, Finance, Political Science or any degree demonstrating the capacity for the knowledge and skills; and two years professional-level evaluative, analytical and planning work; OR
  • Any combination of experience and education equivalent to five years of professional-level evaluative, analytical, and planning work.

Hybrid Remote Work Information:
