Role Summary

The Senior Accounting Manager is one of two managers responsible for the Company’s internal and external financial reporting as well as corporate and technical accounting. Responsibilities include effectively managing and performing the daily operations of the accounting department, month-end and quarter-end close processes, and collectively with the Senior Financial Reporting Manager ensure the accuracy, timeliness, and integrity of financial data. In addition to daily, monthly, and quarterly responsibilities, the Senior Accounting Manger will assist the Corporate Controller in improving operational effectiveness as well as lead projects to support company growth and efficiencies. The ideal candidate is highly detail oriented, self-motivated, team player with a strong working knowledge of accounting systems, business processes, SOX, US GAAP, and multi-currency environments. The candidate should be comfortable working collaboratively in teams and independently and excels when faced with new challenges and problems to solve.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Perform and manage monthly, quarterly and annual close activities by ensuring timely, accurate and complete financial records and reporting in accordance with U.S. GAAP, Sarbanes-Oxley requirements, and the Company’s corporate policies
  • Review monthly journal entries, balance sheet reconciliations, financial statements, and analysis reports
  • Provide day-to-day leadership and support to the accounting team, including ensuring proper GL coding and maintenance of existing processes
  • Ensure reporting calendar is met by working cohesively with the accounting/finance team
  • Collaborate with other departments and third-parties to facilitate the timely and accurate receipt of financial data
  • Manage projects across accounting/finance to improve operational efficiencies or implement new process or systems in support for commercialization of our first product launch
  • Manage and support accountants and AP team in a manner that creates positive morale, personal development and fosters engagement with business partners focused on organizational results
  • Plan and manage documentation requirements for quarterly reviews, annual audits, and coordinate with external auditors
  • Assist with maintaining the company’s ERP (Netsuite) and other accounting systems (Coupa)
  • Formulate and recommend system and process changes through evaluation, analysis of controls, and application of GAAP
  • Maintain ownership and documentation of assigned business processes and key controls for Sarbanes-Oxley compliance
  • Manage international statutory requirements for subsidiaries
  • Manage income tax compliance filing requirements
  • Develop and enforce accounting policies and procedures
  • Conduct technical accounting research to ensure adherence to GAAP
  • May prepare quarterly schedules for SEC reporting along with ad-hoc reporting and analysis
  • Other duties as assigned

Ideal Candidate:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting required; CPA preferred
  • 8+ years of accounting experience; 6+ years of general ledger accounting experience; and 2+ years of supervisory experience in a business unit or corporate accounting role that is related to the responsibilities of this position
  • Public audit and/or accounting experience with publicly traded companies preferred
  • Advanced knowledge of general ledger accounting, internal controls, monthly closings, and U.S. GAAP within a SOX 404b environment to ensure the accuracy and appropriateness of the books and records of the Company
  • Strong knowledge of financial systems (major ERPs) and procure-to-pay process; experience working with Netsuite and/or Coupa a plus
  • Advanced level of software proficiency and understanding of technology to support activities, especially Microsoft Excel (e.g., v-lookup, pivots, sumifs, etc.)
  • Strong knowledge of accounting for international multi-currency environments
  • Excellent organizational, analytical, prioritization, and problem-solving skills with the ability to handle multiple tasks and projects concurrently under tight deadlines
  • Highly detail oriented
  • Demonstrated knowledge and proficiency in the principles, procedures, and best practices related to this position
  • Team oriented and a motivated self-starter with the ability to identify and drive process improvements to better serve business needs
    • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to interact well with all employee levels and external contacts
  • Ability to determine escalation requirements and ensure key issues are put in front of senior management with recommendations for resolution
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills
  • Must have scheduling flexibility to meet the demands of monthly and quarterly close schedules

The expected salary range offer for this role is $160,000 to $180,000. Actual pay offered may vary depending on job related knowledge, experience, education, and geographic location.
