About Spoiler Alert

Spoiler Alert is a fast-growing Series A SaaS startup transforming how enterprise and mid-market CPG brands manage excess and short-dated inventory. Our platform empowers companies like Unilever, Kraft Heinz, Mondelez, and SC Johnson to recover value, reduce waste, and improve operational efficiency.

Our mission is to expand consumer access to affordable, everyday essentials by unlocking the value in surplus inventory. We are scaling quickly and are looking for a results-driven Solution Engineer to join our Go-To-Market team.

The Role

The Solution Engineer (SE) is a critical pre-sales role, functioning as the key technical and business consultant for our Account Executives before a sale and our Customer Operations Managers afterward. This position is essential for connecting complex customer issues with the transformative capabilities of the Spoiler Alert platform.

This role demands a distinct combination of technical knowledge and business consulting expertise, with a laser focus on demonstrating quantifiable value. The SE is responsible for shaping the technical narrative, delivering compelling solution demonstrations, and serving as the Subject Matter Expert (SME) to accelerate sales cycles and boost win rates within enterprise accounts. Furthermore, the SE ensures the accuracy and quality of the solution sold as it transitions to the Customer Operations team.

Responsibilities

Discovery & Technical Validation

  • Deep Dive Discovery: Partner with Account Executives (AEs) to lead rigorous discovery sessions, deeply analyzing prospect pain points, existing workflows, and supply chain data infrastructure.
  • Solution Mapping: Convert discovery insights into a validated technical and business solution, ensuring our platform can deliver on the prospect's specific requirements.
  • RFP/RFI Management: Lead the technical response to Requests for Proposals (RFPs) and Requests for Information (RFIs) with speed, accuracy, and clear articulation of product fit.

Value Modeling & Deal Acceleration

  • Business Case Ownership: Source key customer data and translate operational and financial inputs into comprehensive ROI models. These models must clearly validate value, strengthen commercial alignment, and directly support deal progression.
  • Accelerate Sales Cycles: Act as the technical Subject Matter Expert throughout the sales process, instilling confidence in prospective buyers and helping AEs overcome technical objections.
  • Value Storytelling: Articulate complex technical concepts in clear, business-oriented language that resonates with diverse stakeholders, from Supply Chain Managers to C-level executives.

Demo Strategy & Execution

  • Tailored Demonstrations: Move beyond generic presentations. Design and deliver highly customized product demonstrations that align strictly with a prospect's buyer priorities and specific use-case fit.
  • Solution Design: Lead collaborative sessions focused on workflow design and functional alignment to ensure the proposed solution meets the customer's technical standards.

Cross-Functional Partnership & Transition

  • Transition Support: Ensure a smooth handoff from pre-sales to the post-sale Onboarding and Strategic Customer Operations teams by clearly documenting customer requirements and promised outcomes, as well as transitioning deal knowledge through onboarding. .
  • Cross-Functional Feedback: Serve as the "voice of the market" back to Product and Engineering teams, sharing actionable insights on prospect needs, feature gaps, and competitive landscape trends to influence the product roadmap.

Qualifications & Skills

  • Experience:3–5+ years in a Solution Engineering, Sales Engineering, or Pre-Sales Consulting role within B2B SaaS is preferred. Must have highly cross-functional experience across multiple sales and delivery teams, regardless of title.
  • Industry Domain: Experience in the CPG, Supply Chain, Logistics, or Retail Technology sectors is highly preferred.
  • Technical Aptitude: Strong ability to understand complex data structures, system integrations, and enterprise software workflows.
  • Sales Acumen: Understanding of complex enterprise sales methodologies (e.g., MEDDIC, Challenger) and the strategic role pre-sales plays in moving deals forward.
  • Exceptional Presenter: Commanding presence on Zoom and in person; able to hold the room and think on your feet during Q&A and technical deep dives.
  • Problem Solver: A consultative mindset that seeks to understand the "why" behind a prospect's request before offering a solution.
  • Collaborator: Proven ability to partner effectively with sales targets while maintaining technical and engineering integrity.
