Southwest Care

Southwest Care Center is a non-profit healthcare organization providing comprehensive medical, behavioral health, and specialized care services to the communities of Santa Fe and Albuquerque, New Mexico.

About Southwest Care

What started in 1996 as a specialized clinic with a primary focus on serving those living with HIV/AIDS has grown into a comprehensive, community-focused healthcare organization known as Southwest Care Center. In its early days, the center built an international reputation for outstanding research and compassionate treatment in the infectious disease field, providing a safe, judgment-free environment for patients who often faced stigma elsewhere. The founders recognized a profound need for accessible, high-quality care in Northern New Mexico, and they set out to create a sanctuary where every individual's health, well-being, and privacy truly mattered.

As the years passed, Southwest Care Center realized that the communities of Santa Fe and Albuquerque required even more extensive support. Between 2012 and 2013, the organization embarked on a significant expansion, acquiring the Galisteo and Alameda clinics in Santa Fe. This pivotal move allowed them to broaden their primary care services to include pediatrics and women's health. The journey of growth continued in 2017 when the Jefferson clinic opened its doors in Albuquerque, bringing primary care, behavioral health, and pharmacy services to a wider population. Today, Southwest Care Center stands as a beacon of health equity, operating as a Federally Qualified Health Center Look-Alike (FQHC-LAL). From its humble beginnings, it has evolved into a multidisciplinary institution that employs over 150 dedicated professionals, all united by the mission to provide evidence-based, whole-person care to everyone, regardless of their ability to pay.
