Requirements

SolAmerica Energy is seeking an experienced Preconstruction Manager with a strong project management background and experience planning photovoltaic (PV) projects. This position will interact daily with internal teams, contracting partners, and governmental agencies.

Manage, track, and report on projects in the Preconstruction phase.

  • Coordinate with internal departments to forecast projects entering the Preconstruction phase.
  • Review and edit project documents and determine the status of

Coordinate with internal departments for handover of projects to Preconstruction

  • Manage and identify work by other departments that will continue during Preconstruction

Coordinate with Procurement Department

  • Long-lead equipment procurement
  • Planning for implementation of strategic procurement, including Domestic Content

EPC and Contractor management

  • Develop and maintain relationships with EPC and Contractors
  • Manage the prequalification for EPCs and Contractors
  • Manage the request for bid and bid process.
  • Bid normalization and contract exclusions
  • Coordination with internal legal department that manages the contract process

Manage the handover process from Preconstruction to the project execution phase

  • Planning Reviews with Project Manager, Construction Manager, and others

Project due diligence

  • AHJ permitting processes.
  • Utility interconnection processes
  • Other governmental requirements for execution of the work
  • Natural resources and environmental conditions
  • Survey and geotechnical reports
  • Design drawings
  • PV System energy models
  • Equipment specifications

Schedule

  • Create and manage the schedule for the Preconstruction phase for various projects and/or portfolios of projects
  • Create project and portfolio schedules down to deliverable / activity level (L5)
  • Develop project specific Critical Path schedules with MS Project
  • Work in collaboration with project management team to drive consistency of the project scheduling approach to facilitate accuracy in project execution and reporting
  • Troubleshoot and monitor potential scheduling problems

Cost Estimate

  • Perform feasibility, budgetary, and detailed cost estimates
  • Manage database of cost estimations

Office Location & Travel Requirements

Ideal candidates will be based out of the Atlanta, Georgia area and will be able to work from our HQ based in the Buckhead area pursuant to the company's hybrid work policy.

SolAmerica will consider remote candidates living within a manageable driving or flying distance from Atlanta. The position requires travel to Atlanta and other meetings with an expectation of approximately one to four trips per year.

Minimum Qualifications

The successful candidate will have the following qualifications:

● Undergraduate STEM degree (may consider demonstrable experience in relevant industries in lieu of STEM degree)

● Experience and understanding of Project Management fundamentals including project schedules, budgets, and contracts.

● At least 5 years of relevant experience at a major solar development and/or EPC company

● Excellent negotiation, organization, technical documentation, and problem-solving skills

● Excellent written and verbal communication skills with strong attention to detail

● Ability to exercise judgment to appropriately balance risks with business objectives

● Intellectual curiosity and a desire to constantly learn and improve

● Self-starter with a strong work ethic and ability to manage multiple competing priorities

● Ability to work both independently and as part of a close-knit team

Preferred Qualifications

● Experience working with renewable energy companies and a deep understanding of the solar industry

● Experience with solar electrical equipment engineering and/or electrical engineering

● Experience with solar racking design and engineering process (geotechnical studies, pile load testing, etc.)

● Proficient with MS Project

● Experience presenting to executive-level audiences.

● Active PMP Certification
