Employee count: 501-1000

Salary: 25k-230k USD

United States only

SeatGeek believes live events are powerful experiences that unite humans. With our technological savvy and fan-first attitude we’re simplifying and modernizing the ticketing industry.

The Cloud Platform team owns the infrastructure and networking that powers SeatGeek.com, forming the backbone of our platform. It's a senior & staff-level team working remotely across the US and EU, focused on building reliable, scalable systems that support the entire company.

After completing a major re-architecture that modernized our infrastructure, the team is now shifting focus to build the next phase of our platform. As manager, you’ll lead this effort, guiding the team as they transform a strong technical foundation into a resilient, user-focused product. Your role will be key in shaping the team’s roadmap, enhancing the developer experience, and driving faster, more reliable delivery across the company.

What you'll do

  • Manage a team of Platform engineers
  • Own SeatGeek’s computing and networking infrastructure, maintaining a high standard of operational excellence across the platform
  • Perform code and architecture reviews, and provide technical and design feedback to the team
  • Play an active role in our recruiting process, helping us grow our engineering team in any way you can
  • Provide regular job performance feedback, hold one-on-ones, and provide career development support to your direct reports
  • Work with your Technical and Product counterparts to form a compelling vision and direction for the team that aligns with organizational and business goals
  • Select new and work with existing technology vendors when necessary. You constantly make build or buy decisions together with your team
  • Communicate technical and product decisions to the right people, resolve blocking issues, and collaborate with other leaders across the organization

What you have

  • You’ve successfully built and led lean teams, ensuring they’re productive, motivated, and capable of delivering impactful results
  • You’re able to foster safe, collaborative & inclusive environments, where engineers feel empowered to do their best work
  • You’re great at shaping and driving complex, user-focused roadmaps, and keeping your team focused in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
  • You're able to break down complex technical concepts and explain them clearly to non-technical audiences, accurately representing the team's work to a wide range of stakeholders
  • Knowledge of the technology industry to help your team make good tooling and framework decisions to set them up for success
  • You understand how to lead by setting context, facilitating collaboration, and getting buy-in between cross functional partners in product, design, engineering and leadership
  • You’ve worked as an Engineer in the past, are familiar with the challenges of that role, and preferably have had hands-on experience with the following:
    • Tooling across our tech stack
    • Building out highly available and distributed systems, especially in regards to container orchestration systems
    • Layers 3-7 of the OSI model

Our stack

You absolutely do not need experience with all of these, but we thought you might be curious. Tools can be learned, so we care much more about your general engineering skill than knowledge of a particular language.

  • Languages: Python, Go, C#+.NET Core, Swift, Next.js, TypeScript
  • Client Platforms: iOS, Android, Web (Desktop/Mobile)
  • Technologies: OAuth2.0 & Identity Management, Payment Tokenization
  • Event-driven Technologies: RabbitMQ, Kafka
  • Datastores: Postgres, Redis, Memcache, Elasticsearch
  • Cloud: AWS
  • Version control: Git (Gitlab)

Perks

  • Equity stake
  • Flexible work environment, allowing you to work as many days a week in the office as you’d like or 100% remotely
  • A WFH stipend to support your home office setup
  • Unlimited PTO
  • Up to 16 weeks of fully-paid family leave
  • 401(k) matching program
  • Student loan support resources
  • Health, vision, dental, and life insurance
  • Up to $25k towards family building and reproductive health services
  • Gender-affirming care support program
  • $500 per year for wellness expenses
  • Subscriptions to Headspace (meditation), Headspace Care (therapy), and One Medical
  • $120 per month to spend on tickets to live events
  • Annual subscription to Spotify, Apple Music, or Amazon music

The salary range for this role is $170,000-$230,000 USD. Actual compensation packages within that range are based on a wide array of factors unique to each candidate, including but not limited to skill set, years and depth of experience, certifications, and specific location.

SeatGeek is the live entertainment platform that’s rethinking ticketing by caring more about fans, teams and venues. We're powering a new, open entertainment industry where fans have effortless access to experiences, and teams, venues and shows have seamless access to their audiences.

Trusted Consumer Marketplace

We make it easy for fans to buy tickets and attend events through industry-first features like Deal Score, our ticket-rating technology; Rally, our event experience platform; and SeatGeek Swaps, the first return policy offered by a major ticketer. These features and more have made us the highest rated and most trusted ticketer.

Innovative Enterprise Ticketing Technology

Our enterprise ticketing software allows teams, venues and shows to efficiently grow their businesses while delivering the superior experience that all fans deserve. We’re proud to partner with some of the most recognized names in the world across sports and entertainment since launching in 2016.

Our core values

  • Start with fans: When fans win, everyone wins…and for too long fans have lost. We challenge ourselves, our partners and our industry to start with fans, and let everything else follow from there.

  • Be humbold: We're bold, but humble. We believe we can come up with better ways of doing things through fresher thinking, without being jerks in the process. We're brave enough both to go all-in and also to admit when we're wrong.

  • Pull back the curtains: We put outsized focus on building the most talented team possible. Exceptional people enabled with context do incredible work, so even when it's uncomfortable, we're over-the-top transparent with information.

  • Don't do bullsh*t work: If unchecked, every job results in too many hours spent on bullsh*t work. We design how we work to spend the most time doing rather than preparing to do. Speed compounds; the fastest to innovate, win.

  • Stack the lineup: Our team is our biggest unfair advantage, and the best teams bring together different backgrounds and experiences. We attract exceptional people who are as diverse as the events we ticket, and strive to create an environment where everyone belongs and maximizes their potential.

  • Play long ball: We take big bets on the future. Often we won't know if those bets are successful for months, or even years. Some will fail. Betting on the future means we aren't wholly focused on success today. We're willing to take those risks because they enable the outsized payoffs that change how fans experience live entertainment.
