Raytheon is looking for a Senior Systems Engineer to support the Transformation & Initiatives (T&I) department. The T&I department provides subject matter expertise focusing on driving strategic changes, process improvements, and innovation initiatives to enhance the efficiency, effectiveness, and technological capabilities of systems engineering practices. The Senior Systems Engineer will report to the Raytheon Missiles & Defense (RMD) Affordability Engineering section within the T&I Department. This role provides subject matter expertise in Design-to-Unit Production Cost (DTUPC) modeling, discrete event simulation using tools such as ExtendSim, and Life Cycle Cost estimating using ACEIT to identify, analyze, and drive affordability solutions across programs.
You will be working as part of the RMD Affordability Engineering team to define and drive cost-effective solutions across Ground Radar and Sensor programs. You will develop and apply advanced cost modeling techniques, simulation, and life cycle analysis to ensure system affordability while meeting mission performance requirements.
Tasks you will perform include influencing the affordability of various systems and products throughout their life cycle. In this role, you’ll develop affordability solutions as the program lead of a cross-functional team, supporting both pre-production, production and sustainment affordability efforts. You’ll directly support the Program Manager and Chief Engineer, acting as the focal point for guiding the Raytheon Affordability Process.
Developing DTUPC models to support program cost targets.
Performing discrete event simulations using tools such as ExtendSim for modeling and analyzing dynamic systems across various modes, including discrete events to analyze cost, schedule, and risk trade-offs.
Providing subject matter expertise in cost modeling, affordability processes, and decision-support analysis across program teams.
Typically requires a Bachelor’s in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM preferred) and a minimum of 5 years of prior engineering experience or equivalent experience.
Experience with production cost modeling, life cycle cost estimating, or affordability analysis.
Experience applying statistical methods to perform predictive modeling.
Experience with estimating supplier positions for hardware costs.
Experience supporting proposal development.
Experience communicating complex affordability and cost analysis results to various audiences including engineering, program management, and external customers.
Experience with developing, documenting and maintaining processes, methods and tools.
Experience with modeling, life cycle cost estimating, and affordability analysis.
Hands-on experience with discrete event simulation tools (e.g., ExtendSim) and cost estimating tools (e.g., ACEIT) and parametric estimating tools (e.g., TruePlanning, SEER).
Background in data analytics with experience using tools such as Python, R, Power BI, Power Query, SQL, or Tableau to analyze and visualize large data sets.
Familiarity with AI/ML techniques for cost prediction, trend analysis, or optimization is a strong plus.
Master's degree in Engineering, Science, Mathematics or related discipline.
Knowledge of radar, sensors, or defense system development (a plus but not required).

The salary range for this role is 82,000 USD - 164,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.Hired applicants may be eligible for benefits, including but not limited to, medical, dental, vision, life insurance, short-term disability, long-term disability, 401(k) match, flexible spending accounts, flexible work schedules, employee assistance program, Employee Scholar Program, parental leave, paid time off, and holidays.
