In an era where the digital landscape has become inextricably linked with the health of our democracies, Reset emerged in 2019 with a critical and urgent mission. Born from a recognition that the unchecked power of major technology companies was beginning to erode the very foundations of free and open societies, the organization was established to counter the growing threats of digital misinformation, polarization, and privacy violations. What began as a strategic initiative incubated within Luminate has since evolved into a fully independent global enterprise, operating with a singular focus on realigning technology markets with democratic values.

Reset's journey is defined by its commitment to systemic change rather than temporary fixes. Instead of merely addressing the symptoms of a broken digital ecosystem, the organization works tirelessly to reshape the underlying rules and standards that govern it. By funding cutting-edge research, advocating for robust policy frameworks, and engaging in direct civic action, Reset seeks to restore the promise of the internet as a tool for education and connection, rather than division. With a dedicated team of policy experts, researchers, and technologists working across hubs in London, Berlin, Washington D.C., and Australia, Reset continues to lead the charge in holding tech giants accountable and ensuring that the digital future serves the public good.
