Job Description

QAD has a great opportunity for a Financial Controller who will play a key role in overseeing the financial operations and reporting for specific countries within the organization, namely the Netherlands and Germany. This position requires a detail-oriented individual with strong financial acumen, analytical skills, and the ability to manage financial processes in accordance with local regulations and corporate policies. You will provide tax, statutory, statistical and other reports required by government regulations. You'll review, analyze, and interpret financial and budgetary reports, and you'll assist with the preparation of annual financial forecasts. You will utilize financial accounting systems needed to maintain reporting requirements, and you should be able to work with the shared services teams and provide guidance on the local requirements.

The role is fully remote from Germany.

What will you do:

Financial Management:

  • Oversee the financial operations and reporting for specific countries within the organization, namely the Netherlands and Germany.

  • Review the transactional data the Global shared services teams processed, including AP, billing, revenue, collection, payroll, and GL.

  • Manage and coordinate the month-end and year-end close processes, ensuring accuracy and timeliness of financial reporting.

  • Prepare financial statements, reporting, and analysis for internal and external stakeholders.

  • Monitor and analyze financial performance against budget, forecasts, and targets, identifying variances and providing insights to management.

  • Oversee the US GAAP accounting and ownership of the US GAAP to Local GAAP adjustments.

Budgeting and Forecasting:

  • Assist in annual budgets and forecasts for the designated countries in collaboration with regional and corporate finance teams.

  • Monitor budget performance throughout the fiscal year, identifying areas of concern and recommending corrective actions as needed.

Compliance and Risk Management:

  • Ensure compliance with the designated countries' local financial regulations, accounting standards, and tax requirements.

  • Work closely with internal and external auditors to facilitate audits and address any audit findings or recommendations.

  • Identify and assess financial risks and implement controls to mitigate risks effectively.

Financial Analysis and Decision Support:

  • Conduct financial analysis to support strategic decision-making and business initiatives.

  • Evaluate investment proposals, pricing strategies, and other financial decisions, providing recommendations to management.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to analyze the financial implications of business initiatives and projects.

Qualifications

Professional degree: Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field; MBA or CPA qualification preferred. Mix of 5 years experience of controllership in the German and/or Dutch Accounting context.

Computer skills: Proficient in Google Suite (Sheets/Documents/Slides) or MS Office Suite, particularly Excel, Word, and PowerPoint. Proficiency in financial software and ERP systems; knowledge of Netsuite is a plus.

Other knowledge / skills:

  • Strong understanding of financial principles, practices, and regulations.

  • Experience in financial management, reporting, and analysis, preferably in a multinational environment

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact effectively with stakeholders at all levels

  • Analytical thinking and exceptional organization of work and keen eye for detail

  • Self-motivation and problem solving skills are crucial in this role

Languages: English, Dutch or German
