The Role
Key Responsibilities
- Cross-Functional Planning: Lead solution strategy and planning across Product, Sales, and Engineering to align solution architecture with customer outcomes and enable scalable, coordinated execution.
- Customer Engagement: Act as a trusted technical advisor, guiding customers through real-time application development and identifying opportunities to expand their use of PubNub’s platform.
- Solution Design: Develop tailored solutions and architectures for enterprise use cases, ensuring seamless integration, scalability, and rapid time-to-market. ● Platform Expertise: Provide hands-on implementation guidance and best practices for PubNub’s SDKs, APIs, and platform components..
- Architecture Standardization: Define and document scalable architecture patterns that can be reused across strategic accounts, regions, and verticals.
- Training & Enablement: Conduct customer workshops, internal knowledge-sharing sessions, and contribute to solution documentation to support technical adoption and long-term success.
Minimum Requirements
Core Qualifications & Experience
- 5+ years in technical architecture, solutions engineering, product management, or developer tooling, with direct SDK/API implementation experience.
- Hands-on experience developing and deploying applications for Web or Mobile platforms.
- Demonstrated ability to align customer needs with product and engineering priorities, translating business requirements into scalable technical designs.
- Experience driving technical pre-sales, enterprise customer engagements, or leading cross-functional delivery of platform-based solutions.
Leadership & Collaboration
- Ability to influence product direction through field insight and customer architecture planning.
- Exceptional communication skills, including comfort working with C-level stakeholders, product teams, and developers alike.
Developer Tools & System Integration
- Strong coding fluency in at least one modern language (e.g., JavaScript, Python, Java/Kotlin, Swift, Dart, Ruby), with the ability to quickly apply those skills to other programming languages and platforms.
- Experience building developer tooling or reusable architecture templates.
- Familiarity with live collaboration environments (e.g., CodeSandbox, GitHub Codespaces), CI/CD pipelines, and testing/documentation best practices.
Strategic Architecture and AI Expertise
- Working knowledge of distributed systems and platform design concepts (e.g., Kubernetes, service mesh, secure APIs).
- Working knowledge of AI-enhanced solutions across use cases like personalization, prediction, automation, or real-time insights.
- Familiarity with AI/ML frameworks and architectures (e.g., LLM integration, vector search).
Preferred Attributes
- Experience with real-time applications, messaging platforms, publish-subscribe systems, WebSockets, or event-driven systems.
- Familiarity with security, privacy, and compliance frameworks (e.g., SOC2, HIPAA, GDPR).
- Background in developer experience (DX), technical writing, or developer community engagement.
- Understanding of cloud infrastructure and networking fundamentals (e.g., AWS, HTTP, TCP/IP).
