Education Practice Area
Our Senior Project Managers perform software development implementations and production support using project management best practices and formal systems development life cycle processes. Our project managers provide hands-on project management and support for multiple projects across the practice area in accordance with the strategic vision set forth by the Project Management Office (PMO).

We are seeking a dynamic, forward-thinking information technology project manager who thrives on solving complex problems, driving meaningful outcomes, and leading cross-functional teams with purpose. This role is about owning the vision, navigating ambiguity, and delivering value through thorough planning and execution.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Accountable for leading projects, small to large scale ($100,000 to $3,000,000+), from concept to completion with a focus on stakeholder engagement and measurable results.

  • Facilitate decision-making by synthesizing information, asking the right questions, and challenging assumptions.

  • Actively utilize Project Management Institute (PMI) methods, and aid others in project management best practices that includes but not limited to:

    • Scope Management (change requests)

    • Time Management (schedules)

    • Cost Management (budget, costs, and pricing)

    • Quality Management (quality and testing)

    • Communications Management (reporting and escalations)

    • Risk/Issue Management

    • Stakeholder Management

    • Systems Development Life Cycle

  • Communicate effectively with project stakeholders, leadership, and team members, providing insights not just updates.

  • Proven ability to build relationships and negotiate with clients.

  • Provide project management guidance and direction to consultants to support the PMO, and Region initiatives.

  • Work with management to resolve resource constraints and build capacity in project teams.

  • Ability to lead and direct team members in a matrix organization.

  • Proven ability to apply advanced problem-solving techniques (root cause analysis, alternatives, and solutions) to connect the dots, see the bigger picture and efficiently resolve issues.

  • Proven ability to identify and implement project improvement opportunities.

  • Ensure projects meet or exceed objectives.

  • Advise and support strategic initiatives to mature project management best practices with staff.

  • Develop and deliver project management trainings.

  • Provide after-hours support and travel, as required.

Required Skills

  • Proficient in managing software development projects through the entire process of the SDLC.

  • Strong analytical skills and ability to organize, plan, monitor and control work efficiently within set time limits and other constraints.

  • Excellent ability to effectively communicate and influence outcomes with clients, project teams, and staff.

  • Proficient in Project Management concepts, practices, procedures, and templates.

  • Proficient in building and maintaining schedules using MS Project.

  • Proficient in all aspects of working remotely with teams and clients.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree.

  • 8+ years of experience in Project Management managing software development, complex, multi-year projects.

  • Knowledge of technology solutions and extensive experience within the Systems Development Life Cycle (SDLC).

  • Project Management Certification (PMP).

  • Knowledge of K-12 Education Technology Solutions (nice to have).

  • Education consulting experience (nice to have).

Working Conditions

  • Remote with occasional travel to client sites.

  • West Coast time zone work hours.

Compensation:

Compensation for roles at Public Consulting Group varies depending on a wide array of factors including, but not limited to, the specific office location, role, skill set, and level of experience. As required by applicable law, PCG provides a reasonable range of compensation for this role. In addition, PCG provides a range of benefits for this role, including medical and dental care benefits, 401k, PTO, parental leave, bereavement leave.

As required by applicable law, PCG provides the following reasonable range of compensation for this role: $86,200-$120,000. In addition, PCG provides a range of benefits for this role, including medical and dental care benefits, 401k, PTO, parental leave, bereavement leave.
