Power BI Developer

The Power BI Developer will design, develop, and maintain complex reports and dashboards for business stakeholders using diverse data sources such as Azure SQL, SharePoint, Excel, Dataverse, and REST APIs. They will implement advanced DAX measures, create paginated reports, manage Power BI Service workspaces, and ensure data quality through ETL validation. The role requires strong expertise in report design, Power Query transformations, and familiarity with regulated environments, while collaborating closely with stakeholders to deliver actionable insights.

• Deliver Power BI reports and dashboards for business stakeholders across diverse sources (Azure SQL, SharePoint, Excel, Dataverse, REST APIs)
• Implement DAX measures for multi-currency aggregation, fiscal year calculations, and KPIs
• Create Paginated Reports for operational outputs; maintain the Power BI semantic layer (datasets, measures, shared datasets)
• Publish and manage Power BI Service workspaces, scheduled refresh, and dataset permissions
• Support data quality investigations by tracing discrepancies through the ETL chain
• Collaborate with stakeholders

• 3+ yrs Power BI development — complex reports, multi-page dashboards, paginated reports
• DAX — advanced measures, time intelligence, iterators, context transition; fiscal year / non-calendar period calculations
• Power Query (M) — transformations, custom functions, dynamic parameterisation
• Power BI Service — workspaces, dataflows, scheduled refresh, RLS, deployment pipelines, incremental refresh
• Report design — clear visual hierarchy, executive-level aesthetics
• Familiarity with regulated environments (GxP, audit trails, data integrity)
• Fluent English

• Star schema / dimensional modelling — facts, dimensions, bridge tables, role-playing dimensions
• Data modelling concepts — slowly changing dimensions, Row-Level Security
• Azure SQL / T-SQL — queries, stored procedures, views
• Dataverse / Power Platform connectors
• Multi-currency reporting — base currency normalisation, exchange rate dimension patterns
• Experience building reporting layers on star schemas
• Clinical trial domain knowledge (sites, studies, financial events, admin fees, multi-party billing)
• Azure Analysis Services or Power BI Premium Gen2 for large-scale semantic models
• Power Automate integration with Power BI alerts and data-driven subscriptions
• Microsoft Purview for data lineage and sensitivity labelling
• Forecast modelling patterns (actuals vs. budget vs. forecast waterfall logic)
