The Senior Principal Engineer role embodies the responsibility of a “spirit guide” for the advancement of the Analytics and Reporting technology practices & solutions. This role ensures that utilization of related technologies in the organization is applied with a consistent understanding of the pragmatic balance of “Perfect” vs. “Good enough”, weighing the constraints of available skills, resource availability, cost, and time-to-market commitments. A Senior Principal Engineer is actively/directly involved in developing foundational assets with that technology against emerging business needs but with a primary objective of educating others to evolve further with sustainability in mind.
Requirements
- Proven experience working as expert-level hands-on technology advocate for data systems, analytics, and business intelligence/reporting
- Familiarity with Data Warehousing models, Data Lakes and Data LakeHouse models, and the underlying technologies of each
- Proven experience and moderate-to-large scale implementation of data analytics streaming/processing models (example: Lambda and Kappa architectures) on various technologies
- Experience in the implementation of data quality and management tools and practices
- Working knowledge of various business intelligence platforms (Looker, PowerBI, Tableau, etc.) and post-launch benefits or opportunities
- Current working experience with Python on various data functions (Datagram, ELT/ETL, Notebook, etc.)
- Working experience with moderate-to-large distributed engineering teams and history in a cross-team thought leadership role
- Healthcare administrative experience and familiarity with common business reporting requirements (population health management, financial audit, claims models).
- Cloud provider experience (AWS), IAC experience and/or Kubernetes experience
- Familiarity with industry model options for healthcare-centric analytics (SQL-on-FHIR, the Tuva project, IBM UDMH, Teradata HCDM, etc.)
- Familiarity with data governance, metadata management, and data security practices.
- Working knowledge of HIPAA privacy/security rules. Ability to translate regulatory requirements into technical safeguards.
- 15+ years working in software engineering discipline
