General Summary

  • The Clinical Apps Manager is responsible for leading the team supporting clinical applications. Work is accomplished in a team environment and requires excellent management and communication skills with a high level of professionalism.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Partners with clinical and operational leadership to support operations and growth plan of the organization.
  • Provides management/oversight for clinical application and integration staff including staffing, development and all other supervisory matters.
  • Ensures supply of resources, meets work demand and ensures that all teams are trained and compliant with standards and best practices.
  • Leads strategic initiatives, simultaneous projects and major enhancements.
  • Ensures team complies with change control and project management best practices.
  • Delivers service and solution innovation to deliver new services, improve services or at a lower cost.
  • Solves highly complex problems and develops solutions to tasks or projects which may be unique.
  • Operates under deadlines and extreme workloads.
  • Complies with Customer Service best practices. Works with customers to establish work priorities.
  • Represents the IT Applications department at leadership and departmental meetings.
  • Manages multiple vendor relationships, support and deliverables.
  • Works with their team to analyze new functionality and recommend how it should be used to prioritize and implement requested changes to the system.
  • Oversees the Phelps Health integrations to support improved interoperability and patient care.

Education

  • Bachelor's degree in Healthcare Administration, Public Health, Mathematics, Healthcare Informatics or Computer Science or equivalent experience.

Work Experience

  • Minimum five years' work experience within information technology or applicable area of healthcare highly preferred.
  • One to two years' experience with managing applications teams, build and configuration, and testing.
  • Experience with software development life cycle (SDLC) and project management methodologies.
  • Epic or other EHR implementation experience preferred.
  • Three or more years of management experience preferred.
  • Demonstrated comprehensive knowledge of clinical or revenue cycle practices and principles.
  • Demonstrated ability to gather information from multiple sources and analyze applicability and appropriateness, and develop an efficient workflow.
  • Experience with organizational strategies, business operations, and end-user requirements to develop system design and training projects.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, leadership and change management skills to establish and maintain a positive and productive working relationship.

Certification/License

  • Certification in one or more applications preferred.

Mental/Physical Requirements

  • Must be able to management multiple tasks simultaneously, and to generate technical reports and documents. May occasionally be expected to work unusual hours while resolving technical issues. Standing, walking, and sitting are required. Moderate lifting (10lbs) required.

Working Conditions

  • Standard office conditions; well lighted, climate-controlled area. Constant noise from fans and printers for extended periods. Will spend a great deal of time using computers with possible visual or muscular discomfort.
